Good Scoring??

    Before i start i just want to say that i have a bit of a love / hate relationship with golf. However, I still seem to get out once a week with some friends (usually over the summer months). I was wondering what would be classed good scoring for a beginner / casual player??

    When we go out, we normally play stableford points with each guy playing off an 18 handicap (as we're not joined to any club this estimated...i think) and the scores are usually in the low to mid thirties (Course par 70).

    Seems to me that there are a lot of experinced golfers on here so what do ye think is good scoring??

    If you guys were able to play to an 18 handicap then your scores should be around 36 points for 18 holes. If the scoring is only in the low 30's then perhaps your handicaps should be around 20/22. Of course it also depends on what the standard scratch is for the course you are playing. If the course is par 70 but standard scratch is 72 then you aren't far wrong with an 18 handicap.

    The best way to get an idea of what your handicap would be were you to join a club is to take an average of your last three scores.

    Playing to 18 for a beginner is pretty good I would think.
