Part time masters while working

Is anyone doing a part time masters in an IT related field. I am looking for something that concentrates more on the business side than on the development side of IT. Something that would allow me to become a systems analyst or project manager.

    I have a few questions:

    - How many hours per week do you need to attend class or study (in general)
    - If you are starting a new job will a company be happy you are doing this or would they prefer that they would be able to give you overtime when ever they would like
    - How have you found doing a part time masters different to a full time degree
    - Can you do a part time masters with a university you cant attend in person each week. For example could I do a part time masters in Galway while working a full time job in Dublin. Or would this not work.
    - Would I be better off doing profesional vendor certifications rather than a masters with a university.

If you have any other information you think I should be considering here please let me know.

    Thanks in advance!

Ive been looking into a Masters for the last year or so, so I can only tell what I've found
    systems analyst or project manager

Smurift are offering a new course this year MSc in Business Analytics, which could help you towards a Systems analyst role.

Any project managers Ive ever meet were all about Prince2, no degree's or masters are ever mentioned.

    - How many hours per week do you need to attend class or study (in general)
From talking to people, you need to do about 20 hours a week on class work and another 20 hours home study. (This was about the Smurfit Masters in particular)

    - If you are starting a new job will a company be happy you are doing this or would they prefer that they would be able to give you overtime when ever they would like
Most are happy once they know, tell them in the interview.

    - How have you found doing a part time masters different to a full time degree
    No Answer

Yes, a friend is doing just that, he goes to Galway once a month for classes on a thursday/friday.

It depends on what you want to do, where you want to go etc.

Why not list the Masters you have been looking at?

There's a degree in DCU called the European M.Sc. in Business Informatics that sounds right for you.

This is true in most cases - companies like to hear you're interested in progressing.

The EMBIN degree has web support in place too.

There's info on it here: http://www.dcu.ie/prospective/deginfo.php?classname=EMBIN
