Were they taken with the kit lens that came with the 450D?
Breathtaking view....I'm not an expert on Landscapes so can't c&c.

I like number two, the person gives it a real sense of size...
Number 3 is great, very clever.. Nice idea

i really like them all... can't offer much c&c....

yup taken with the standard 18-55mm lens.

also fyi they are all untouched in photoshop except for a simple rotation on one of them ;)

number 1 does nothing for me - could be improved with some processing I'm sure, but there's nothing really there in the subject matter that grabs me. number two is better in that there is something in the foreground, but could be improved with a crop (too much sky) of if you had positioned yourself lower so the guy in the shot was higher on the skyline. number three I love - great idea, nicely executed!

not bad work for the first outing. enjoy!

    love #3 too

it could only be better if the leg's shaddows don't cover so much of your torso and face

also, it doesn't matter, but did you turn your camera upside down or did you rotated it on computer? (horizon could be straighten too...)

    thanks all for your comments.

#3 was taken with the camera the right way around and the photo was rotated in photoshop i suppose i could of had an excuse for the wonky horizon if i said the camera was upside down. d'oh.

    Nice shots Cremo.

It's a pity there's graffiti on the rock in number 3 though.

For number 3 you could possibly have moved your subject wrt the sun to avoid the harsh shadows across his body, also you could have tried fill flash.

It is a very creative photo though which I like, also perhaps you could have made more of the background, a longer focal length at greater distance would have made more of the cross and people in the background, turning to the right might have brought in more of the bay and a nicer vista, but as I said it is creative which is what makes most photos stand out and is very important, often more so than advanced technical ability, so well done, keep up the good work.

I think I mean left because the photo is upsidedown... how confusing :o

Nice images ! is this taken in somewhere in Wicklow Town ?

No 3 is a nice idea well done (apart from not zapping the graffiti) the first two are classic "wow, what a view I'll take a pic" shots - it was impressive being up there no doubt but not impressive looking at a "flat" representation of same.

#3 messes with my mind tbh
Sometimes when I lie on the grass, looking up at the sky, and I think about falling I get a bit freaked out for a second.
    Anyone else get that? <_>

    a couple of ideas;

on all of them - up the contrast a little, but turn down the brightness - not too much mind you. They all look a little hazy unless its just my lcd screen which it could well be in which case someone else jump in and save the pics from ruination :D

the focus (again to mine eyes!) is somewhat soft which would be typical of a kit lens. try a little sharpening (just a smidgen - only a little - they're landscapes and don't need much).

number 3 is great fun. if going to do a print for a wall i would suggest it needs some work in terms of tying in the sea and sky. Also it would need to clone out the cross, and the headlands in the right hand side. Its a great idea though and looks good as is.

Well done. Great effort for first time with a DSLR.
