Thinking about running the Dublin Marathon this year.

Itś forty km, havnt done much stamina training in recent years, have recently quit cigarettes & been doing weights in the gym about 3-5 times per week the last 2mths, go out for runs about every 2-3 days but nothing too intense, Iḿ pretty slimmish, 16% bodyfat, 11.5stone & Iḿ around 5 foot 7

Anyone got any tips for getting ready for it? I ideally like to run it at a decent pace, maybe finish in top 10-20%(if this is completely unrealistic let me know)

Was thinking what sort of distance should I start with & how many nights a week should i be training

Apologies for the the punctuation, on a Spanish keyboard

    thanks

    completely unrealistic.

the top 10% would likely all be running 6-7 days a week, some twice a day and doing at least 50 miles a week. Probably all with years of long distance running under their belts.

However be more realistic with your goals and you have time to do it, check over on Marathon forum

Emmmmm 16% isn't exactly slimmish either.

Lose a bit of weight and run more, follow a decent programme and enjoy it.
