    Hi

I use AIB for everything. And even though I don't work for them anymore
my staff card always gets bank draft commissions waived ;)

I also had a BOI current account and tbh I doubt there was ever more than €100 in it. I withdrew money by ATM once and it ended up around €8 in debit.
I never cleared this or looked at the statements.

I kept getting fees added and eventually I owed over €20 so I went to the local branch and cleared everything. But I left the account open as I might use it some day.

What happened was the staff believed I paid all money due but in the meantime I had been charged yet another referral/penalty fee so I thought the balance was zero but a few days later it was minus €6. I don't blame the brach staff for this, they said they couldn't see the charge at the time.

I asked a manager in the branch would they investigate it but I never heard back. The balance kept getting worse and over a period of months it went back to minus €30. Out of sheer stubborness I refused to pay as I thought I had paid what I owed.

I got a letter threatening to close the account if I didn't pay up. I didn't bother and the account was closed.

Is my credit rating fecked? I've not checked with ICB yet and I will but just looking for opinions :)

Very possible yes. Why don't you get a credit report?

    ICB report just ordered.
Cool, didn't know you could do it online. :)

I doubt there is anything on the ICB. You get ample chances to sort something out before getting reported onto the ICB.
