Difficult to go the uk route, courses are 3 months and expensive. Try talking to someone in Cool Hand Lukes, they were talking about starting a school and did train up a few of the poker dealers for table games, they may be willing to do a course.

Cool Hand Luke's, is it the old Merrion club?
    Ill try that.
    Do they have a website?

The Emerald Casino on Eden Quay is advertising croupier training-don't have a number for them.
Your probably better dropping in after 7pm.

    Hope this helps.

You know it's good money running these courses in many parts of the world. Given that casinos will be legal in Ireland in the near future it will be a more accepted and higher profile occupation in respect of people thinking about doing it. Some of you dealer folk might be well advised to start up a proper commercial counterpart to the British croupier training firms. You might make some decent money with it in the long term, hard to say, but it's not exactly rocket science.

    Hi Kingsizeman!

Did you end up going on a dealing course with the link given?
    Is it very expensive?
What kind of experience do the teachers have, are they Irish?
I'm very interested in this school, l tried to call today, no reply on a Sunday, i'm particularly interested in the fact they can maybe help you get a job when you finish school.

    Any info would be great!

    Thanks,

    Trish and Mac.

Ive found out who is behind the iga, I have no doubt that the courses will be very well run and they will certainly be able to at the very least point you in the right direction for a job if they dont actually affiliate themselves with a few casinos.

What do you mean you have found out who is behind iga?
Are they familiar with the casino business or is it like a training by mail course?

    Trish and Mac.

They are very familiar with the casino industry in Ireland and abroad, the courses will be held live, a croupier course by mail definitely wouldnt work.

Hi. Why to go to blackpool if you live in Dublin? I have recently finished course with iga and honestly i was very surprised the way they lead me through training. they are friendly the good way when they show little bit of their professional lifes and pass some knowledge on you. The web is www.iga.ie And they took us to casino and commented the games there with suggestions what every dealer/croupier done right and wrong.
Kept my chips after i finished.
    Enjoy

i heard their one week holdem course is really good.

but i found when training to be a poker dealer that you need about two/three hours of being shown how to shuffle and handle chips, all the rest is practice and learning rules.

Itd be more expensive in Britain.

If you did the poker course youd have your money back in less than a week.

If you did the croupier course it would only be useful in this country. Only Uk trained croupiers are licensed. (USA different license). Makes it easier to get jobs abroad or on cruise ships as most want licensed dealers nowadays.

In saying that the UK Gaming Board have made it easier again with the new 5 year license so that people can freelance.

If any legislation comes in here licensed dealers would be the way to go.

    Hi,
I have worked in casino's for 10 years all aound the world.Just a bit of advice for you.If you want just to work in Ireland then i can say this course will be ok for you a bit expensive but they have to put lots of time and effort into the cousre so all in all not too crazy a price. But without a guaranteed job it's not that good IMO.
If you fancy a career out of Ireland then the U.K is the way to go.Not all places charge you. Some casino's will pay you to train then you are guaranteed a job, licenced and with 6 months+ experience you will be ready to move on and find work anywhere you want, probably a year and you'll be employable everywhere.Companies won't even finish reading your C'V if you do this course in Dublin and apply for jobs.
If you want any information and your serious about working in a casino,PM me and i can help you finding what's right for you.
