I find a big huge, extremely fattening irish brekkie as stated above does wonders for the alcohol soakage in the morning/afternoon. But the main reason I never get hangovers is that I drink a pint of Berrocca before I go out and when I get in. It is the most amazing thing ever invented and my head doesn't get sore.

Nothin beats a bacon sammich and a pint of water... Best thing ever for a hang over... I think I'll need one in the morning

I know this may attract the disapproval of some of the brothers, but if you have a dodgy stomach nothing sorts it out like a banana can. It settles the stomach in a relatively gentle, non-greasy way, while the potassium that bananas have loads of sorts you out as well, but I'm not really sure why as I wasn't great at science in school. After the banana has done its job you are then free to indulge in the full works fry-up.

A Banana? You've really been spending too much time in the ladies lounge. :p

I know. I'll be OK-ing post with cocktails before long, and the worst thing is I don't have any control over these strange new feelings. :(

I had to re-read that several times, thinking to myself, WTF is a "banana can"?

Yes, I fear Brother Zaph has been wimminised.

Everybody knows the ultimate cure is a feed of pork products, followed by hair of the dog.

Bloody Mary's are supposed to be good for a hangover.

think i'll manage a banana, but will definatly be having a big breakfast bagette, or roast dinner, either why, will be not be cooking it my self, your local hot food counter is your friend in these cases, washed down with a bottle of lucozade

    :D

I'm not convinced that there is a cure for a hangover. Instead I believe that avoidance is the only way. That can be achieved by (a) remaining permanently sober or (b) remaining permanently mildly drunk. I have found the latter to be very effective.:)

I'm extremely hung over at the moment and I just has my bacon sammich and it went down a dream! Couldn't stomach a banana though :p

A double cheeseburger with mustard, hamburger sauce, brown sauce and ketchup. And a very large glass of water (preferably a pint). Can't beat it, 2 burgers, 2 cheese (one on each bun). Then your ready to go again....:D

Pint of water before bed. Does the job.

A night on the beer and then a pint of water before bed? Does your bed have in built plumbing?:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,058 ✭✭✭✭Abi

I cant remember the last time I felt a proper hang over. But Im with Pepe LF with the water. Ever since I started that, I've never really woke up rough since.

Im open to correction here, but isnt a hangover pretty caused by dehydration?

The more you drink, the more you wee, so you are losing 'good' body water and replacing it with the toxic alcohols?

I heard you lose body salt aswell, but what that has to do with it *shrug*

I get up early and get the juice and smoothies into me, followed by coffee.. if those havent stunned me back to normality the fry food comes out. Annnd if that didnt work I'd go hair of the dog :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 381 ✭✭ash xxx

My god boys, I would've expected much better of you all. Bananas and water, tut tut. I need greasyness the morning after, not healthy things. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,324 ✭✭✭✭Cathmandooo

+1 for greasy things, a monster fry up and a lie down is the trick, and tea, lots of tea!!

    Ahhh rosie and jim

    ...
Right, iv come up with alist of cures for different types of hangovers...

    different types :

    Level1 - thirsty, sweaty....
    Cure -- obvious enough...water,juice

level2 - Thirtsy, Sweaty, pain in head...
cure - Juice, shower, fry, youtube

level3 - thirsty, wake up early, weak stomach, pain in head,
cure - Ribena, shower, fry / mc donnnalds, (eat regularly, but small amounts) watch you tube for bout 2 hours, or soemthing like "how its made, brainiac, gerry springer

level4 -- wake up early, paranoid over what u done last night, cringing, pain in head, weak stomach,
cure --- For this the main thing is to kill time, have a shower, drink a pint of ribena, and the best thing ever -- the swimming pool, stay in it for bout 20 mins then go to the steam room, back to the pool then followed by a cold shower.... hangover will end instantly (i live by this)

level5 -- this is the same as level 4 really, only the hangover will come back within an hour of you being out of the pool... thats when you know you need a cure (cure is 2pints min, 4 max(after that,it turns into aother session)

level6...this is a rare one, its the really really bad one where you cant eat, cant sleep but your wrecked tired, face and eyes are buring, all you can remember is flashbacks last night, u can taste sick, yor just ****ed really...

cure --- i dont actually know anything that solves this, iv only ever had it 2-3 times in my life... you cant have a cure,it wont work
what you can do however, is go on a mad session again of about 10 pints, this will destroy the level 6 but break it into 2 level 4s, you will have a hangover again the following day, but not as bad...

as you can see, iv alot of spare time, and iv tried everything :D

Well I remember one night I really went to town, it got to the point were I couldn't see where I was walking and the next morning I was in such a wreck that I genuinly thought I'd never drink again.

Anyway, went into Dublin that morning as I had been in Tallaght the night before and popped into Burger King and downed an XL Tripple Whopper meal with cheese. Then I proceeded to take a massive piss and I walked out of the place feeling as fresh as a daisy.

More pints is my recommended cure. You have to be careful not to turn it into another session though. I'm gonna go for a pint now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,212 ✭✭✭DenMan

Yep definitely agree with above. After a big night before it's nice to have "gentle" top up the afternoon after. Really relaxed and chilled out. That's the way to be.

ah you're like myself so! except i do it all the time, regardless of sobriety! god i love food...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,854 ✭✭✭Sinfonia

Fry etc. is fantastic, but if you can make yourself go, and your mates can make themselves go as well, a good 2 hour game of five-a-side is unbelievable for destroying a hangover. It starts off badly, and there'll be dodgy times during the match too, but when it's over, the hangover is just gone.

That might well work. I'll never know.

    Reeks. Of. Effort.

Grade A Thermonuclear Event style fry, accompanied by mugs of builders tea. Works every time.

There is no finer example of this than Chicken Hut. Snackbox with gravy is the pinnacle of human cuisine! :pac:

Edit: I also find a good teeth-brushing with some minty toothpaste works. Dunno why!

If you re-read my post you'll notice that the banana is only advocated where in certain cases, and only to settle the stomach enough to allow a fry-up to be consumed.

    :)

Makes me wake up a few hours later. Go for a piss and drink another pint if it was a heavy session the night before. Always sorts me out unless I've been binging on sugary **** like vodka and redbulls :(
