Where to play snooker in Clontarf?

Since Joey's is closing down, where else can you play snooker in that area? Apart from Crossguns or Breaks? I don't think there is a public club, but how about a (members only) sports club with snooker facilities?

It will be hard (if not impossible) to find a place that matches with Joey's, but any tips appreciated. Thanks!

Try the ABFRC (Artane Beaumont Family Recreation Centre) on the Kilmore Road/Skellys Land. Just across from Artane Castle.

hey, why don't you try crossguns, great place, great atmosphere, nice tables, brushed and ironed every day, no scumbags smoking joints etc:)

Crossguns is nice, but they only open at 2 p.m.

Joey's used to be open from 11 a.m. - which is nice if you want to go and play on a week-end and still have something left of the day...

yup Joeys gone. Sportslink has 4 good tables but its like playing in Bangkok without air conditioning there. Feckin opressive heat and lack of oxygen there.

Paul overall its a very good snooker room. 4 tables in the room and the cloths are good and theres hardly ever a sinner there which is good. E20 deposit but the rate its relatively cheap even though it went up recently i think. There is an old timer there who runs the affiliated snooker club. He brushes and maintains the tables and pockets on his own time and but for him ive no doubt this snooker room would be run down big time.

The only downside that i mentioned earlier is that its opressively hot in there through bad ventillation. I'd swear the hot air from the adjoining gyms is being pumped into the room. After a couple of frames you just lose concentration and get restless due to the heat and bad air circulation. If its hot outside just forget about it. If its cold outside its not so bad but i'd dare you to play there on a fine warm sunnd day!.

Sounds good,I will have to pop in some day.Do you know what day the Club play..?I don't want to go up and all the tables be taken, also is there any probs with bringing a mate who is not a member..?

On a side note do you use the guy/pool much..?I find it a great spot up there.

I think club day is sunday mornings either that or saturday mornings but they are a ramshackle lot and often dont number enough to occupy all 4 tables. They are good enough that if your playing when the arrive they wont shunt you out they will let you play on. Its not really a concern though as long as you acknowledge their presence if you run into them. No problem bringing a non member.
My brother was in the gym and said its a great spot but ive never used it or the pool, i stick to the roads like a real man rocky style.

ha ha thats the way!. Your actually free to bring pints and snacks from the sportslink bar into the snooker room.

btw when the weather gets colder, the nights darker and snooker gets more popular on a rare occasion when you go in and are told the tables are all occupied you can just tell the girl your going to wait in the bar until a table comes available and ask her could she give you a shout over the intercom when someone finishes up. You shouldnt be waiting longer than 30 minutes as most players there arent all night merchants.
