    Hi There

Am hoping someone can help me out here & that this hasn't been answered somewhere else already !

I have the dreaded message above on my Sky this evening & on contacting them I have a Not Locked message under the System Menu which ultimately means I have to have an engineer out BUT I have to wait till Friday 13th

Does anyone know of a fix for this ? Have tried the usual turning off the power, unplugging the scart lead, turning on & off the LNB through the menu.....

    Anyone any idea's

    Thanks

unplug the sky box from the wall electricity socket, take out the sky card, press and hold the backup buttom, plug in the elec plug while keeping the backup button pressed, wait untill the tv screen says " software upgrade" release the backup button, wait for the upgrade to complete, should take 10 mins, when you get a picture and sound turn off the sky box with the remote, insert the sky card, turn on sky with remote, everything should be good.

Am I right in saying that it's not a good idea to do a forced software upgrade with a bad or non-existent signal?

    Hi Steve

Thanks for that. Have tried that now but there is nothing happening I'm afraid ! I am not getting any software upgrade coming up on the sreen

I have an old Sky Box, I had a new one but they replaced it for the same problem a few months back. Should the same process work ?

    Thanks again

I think you are correct, it simply won't happen with a non-existent signal and could render a box unusable with a bad signal if it couldnt complete the firmware install.
Seems like dodgy advice from someone supposedly in the industry.:(

If this is the second box to have same issue in a short space of time, I would definitely be looking elsewhere for the problem ie the dish or cable.
Check these first. Might be as simple as poor alignment or even a tree blocking the signal. They are growing pretty fast this time of year.
