    A new incinerator is being planned for rathcoole co. dublin. I what to make people aware of this as new houses are being built.

    So? There is a lot of bad press associated with incinerators - would you prefer a pile of stinking landfil?

    Harmful pollutants are scrubbed from the outgoing gasses - methane emissions for example would be a lot higher from a landfill site, which is a LOT worse for the environment than CO2.

    True- you'd get more dioxins smoking a cigarette or from someone illegally burning rubbish near you than from a modern incinerator.

    But the general arguments agains incineration on the level planned for Ireland still stand.
