Your thread title should read "10" and not "1" :)

And holy body scanners batman! Looks like that thing in the simpsons where Bart turn into a fly - but on a bigger scale !

If the process slows down airports then I don't want it. If it speeds things up then I'm all for it.

Used one of those before alright, I cant remember what airport though ? JFK New York I think ?

Found it to be a bit slower than standard one -
    Step in,
    Turn Sideways,
    Hands up,
    Futuristic looking scan,
    Hands down,
    Out

As opposed to put your **** in the tray and walk straight through, if you beep you get frisked.

The patdown does seem quicker alright and is apparently still optional!

Having experienced one in an airport in Moscow it's not as drawn out as you say. You step in and put your hands up. It does something which takes about 5 seconds. Then you step out.

Personally i found it took longer mostly because people weren't as used to it so they had to be told exactly what to do (Elderly passengers especially) I'm sure once they're in place a while things will speed up.

I also have my own method of passing through the standard scanners down to an art at this stage to speed up my airport travels for connecting flights and stuff so it may have just felt longer ?

Used one in Las Vegas. That was before the article above mentioning they were being launched so we may have been part of a trial. No problems on the day.
