John Simpson v Paul Appleby now(21:30) on Sky Sports 2

For the British Featherweight title , I fancy this to be a great fight(my tip for British fight of the year 2008) between a good European level fighter in Simpson and a potential World Class prospect in Appleby .

For Appleby this is a big step up and his first major test as a pro .
If he comes through then it shows proof that he may be good enough for World level someday . If not he has plenty of time on his side to fix any flaws .

Should Simpson win he will gain the Lonsdale belt for keeps and will be one step closer to the European title , which imo he is more than capable of winning .
Simpson has World title aspirations , which seems a bit too optimistic but at only 24 if he could get the European title then who knows .

The point is this fight will bring the winner onward quite far in their winner while the loser will have to have a re think and work back to British level .

What I'm sure of is it's going to be a war .
Prediction: Appleby tko in round 9 after a close fight early on .
His power and aggresion will be too much despite his own leaky defence .
