    This is happening all over the world not just America.. People are not sure of their rights hence security goons are able to take advantage..

    I've actually seen this happening in Heuston before.It was a large video camera though,not a still one.The second the man took it out of his bag,two huge security guards came over and asked him to leave.I guess it's spreading :(

    But it is worth keeping in mind that some private premises (like shopping centres, stations etc. do have a policy of no photography). This doesn't appear to be the case here and looks like just another case of someone abusing their power.

    A friendly smile and asking for permission first often helps though (not debating the legality but rather how you can make sure you get the shot you want). :)
