The management company is taking my sky+ dish off the wall

...probably next week. I know nothing about freeview or dish diameters, I just want to watch tv, like old Top Gear episodes on Dave, the weather report on Sky News and Two and a half men on Paramount Comedy.
I want EPG, being able to pause/rewind the program to see if it really was an offside and record different programs in the background on the internal HDD - all great features of Sky+.

I had NTL before in the apartmant. I don't have HD TV.

What are my options? My friend told me to get the basic NTL digital package and a thing called "The Box", but it won't have the pause/rewind and the "recording a different channel than I'm currently watching" features.

There should be a way, to bake and eat the cake, please help.

    Thanks in advance.

"The box" is an illegal cable receiver so not a good idea to discuss it here.

came accross this recently about indoor dish's.

http://www.oughton.me.uk/sky/ - this is DIY or maybe not so diy of the highest order. But I have seen threads around here about cube type dishs you can put on your balcony. Of course thats assuming you have a window/balcony where a dish could point towards the right satellite

Ntl with the PVR should do all you require without the dish
The channels are not as varied as Sky but it should do the job for you

Ignore your friend for a start. That is likely to get you in to more trouble.

I doubt the management have any justifiable legal right to remove your dish. Its just that they dont think you should know this.
However in order to exercise your rights I reckon you just have to play clever.
If I was in your position, I would politely tell them no but ask them to explain in writing the reason why they have to take down the dish and under what laws etc.
Once they did that in writing, (and unless they were more clever) I would then be armed with enough rope to hang them.:pac:
Next I'd refer to the template letter by Spockety here
and send that to the management company. All the relevant legal documentation is referred to on that thread
Then I would see what their reply to that was and probably post it here..

At least I'd have an extra few weeks of uninterupted watching, and more if they saw sense.:)

"IANAL, and the scenario is purely a laymans commonsense interpretation, its up to you to make your own decision.
But remember under current EU law, you have a clearly defined right to freedom of services which include satellite.

Umm, why not look at getting a flat satellite dish if you have a window pointing in the right direction (southeast isn't it?)

OR, yea could look at using the buildings roof maybe.
