So got Season 1 on DVD last week.

Im as far as the episode with bollo getting sick. Some of it can be hit or miss, but if you just go with its weird world its not bad.

Just wonderinf should you probably take a tonne of LSD while watching it?

And have I missed out a lot not seeing anything before S01E01?

Season 1 is a bit hit and miss.

I enjoy the Boosh with no chemical encouragement whatsoever! Stick with it, it gets great.

You could lash the radio show on your iPod. Thats great.

Is it always set in the zoo?

Nope, in the second season it's mainly an apartment, and the 3rd is in a shop as far as i remember

Whats the whole Idea behind it then?

    How did it start off?

haha, i think season one is a bit hit and miss initially, but really grew on me... charlie and tundra are the best episodes, imo, though the hitcher and electro episodes are classic too.

the backstory, as far as i can remember off the top of my head... noel and howard were both on the comedy circuit,a nd both did kinda surrealist comedy, liked each others' acts, ended up mates, and doing acts together... somewhere from there, sprung the mighty boosh as a stage show. gained huge popularity, and someone on bbc took note, and they ended up doing a radio show. that was also hugely popular, and gained a huge following, until they ended up doing it on the telly, bbc3, thursday half ten. kinda just grown from strength to strength.
