saw something similar recently. seems quite cool but this is controlled testing, i have doubts it'll work as well "in the wild".

the reason google works is that the internet is a text-based medium where everything is described in text.... not images. and images are very complex things in their own right, so the engine has to "guess" what the image is (probably based on vector-ising images and matching colour accents and the like)... which means it could very easily throw up mad results for images.

it's cool, but from a practical point of view it seems a fair bit useless as you have to upload an image to get information on said image. if they aimed it at artists and the like it would be different, but they seem to want to replace google with it.

a better example was an iphone app i saw recently in beta testing (can't find the videos as i can't remember the name of the service) where you take a pic, upload it to a search engine and it'll reply with information on the image. so finding nemo's dvd box will return info on the movie...

even though i'm moaning, it still seems like a very cool idea... it just needs some properly practical applications :D
