HIT & HIIT. Whats the difference in the body?

    I know what the difference is in terms of definition but I was just wondering what the difference is to the body? Like would HIT not be better as your constantly at a greater intensity rather than in intervals but what I've read online is HIIT is better and thats what most athletes use to train.

    I mean if you worked out for 20 mins on both would the HIT not be better than HIIT for a cardio workout because of the increased length at the higher intensity rather than just at intervals?

    Well, the benefit that is supposed to come from HIIT is from the very high intensity that you wouldn't be able to sustain for any prolonged period - it is supposed to create a 'metabolic disturbance' that leaves you burning more calories in the period after exercising. Also because you are not letting your body adapt to the exercise with HIIT it has to work harder - with HIT you are exercising at a steadier rate, which the body can adapt to that bit easier.
