    Howdy,

    I'm looking for a present for my girlfriend - and what I was thinking was a locket, big enough for me to put some painkillers in it ! (Sounds odd, but its quite thoughtful really...I hope...*prays*!).

    Can anyone help me in finding such a thing ? I had found a perfect one, but the clasp on it broke, so...its not up to much, so I am looking for a nicer one ! I have had a look on eBay, but you know yourself, its hard to judge ! I'd like to buy it on the net if possible though, looked in the jewellers nearby and no luck !

    Upper price limit is 150 quid, preferably less than a hundred though (its not all I'm getting her!;)).

    Thanks a lot ! :)

    Give us a bit of info about her. Might be easier to give suggestions

    What age is she? what kind of things does she like? Is she actually a jewellery person? How long are you together?

    Sure, sorry I should have given it to begin with, didnt want to bore ye all !

    We're only 18,she likes everything really - loves music (especially the Beatles and the Stones), shes not really a jewelery person, but this would probably only be one of the things I get her ! Have a few things floating around my head at the moment ! Been dating about 5 months now :)

    Ok, well if she's not really a jewellery person I would be very wary when thinking about buying it for her, if you can look at the jewellery she does have.

    Alternatively;

    * Concert Tickets

    * Do you have a nice picture of the 2 of you? Stick it in a nice frame, i'd love if my bf gave me that as part of a present as I think it's more of a girl thing to do but it's a really nice feeling when guys do it for you

    *Her favourite perfume

    *Bring her out for the day - even to the Zoo if she's into it, bring her for a nice picnic on the beach

    What else were you thinking?

    Thanks a lot for the help!

    What I was thinking was, well...she gets headaches a lot, but she hates carrying a bag around, so I figure if I got her a locket that was both nice, and big enough to hold some headache tablets, it would be a good present, since she wouldnt have to carry a bag round, and it would be...nice ! :)

    The other thing I was gonna get her was a watch...she just broke her watch last week, so that seems like fate ! I was also going to get it engraved with some kind of message, like the date or something...since its always nice to have something to remember your 18th by ! :) And the other thing was, she loves scented candles, so I was trying to find the one she likes as well ! (Its one of those yankee candles...you might have seen them in Easons or other shops like that, I remember the scent she liked had "ginger" in the title...so I just have to find that !).

    I thought of a few other things apart from that, but only small things that hardly bare mentioning ! :)

    Any suggestions ? I am kind of apprehensive, since its very hard to find jewelery that is... fit for the purpose ! (If anyone knows of any websites....;)).

    Thanks a lot guys ! :)

    Hmmm ... I don't really think that carrying headache tablets around in a locket are a good idea! I'm sure it's probably not healthy anyway not to keep say your Anadin in a tub or in the packs that they come in.

    If she hates carrying a bag around, buy her a nice purse that she can fit into her pocket, then she could just put her pack of Anadin / Panadol into her purse!

    If you wanna get her a watch - Guess watches are fab.

    If you really wanna stick with jewellery, you can't go wrong with a simple white gold necklace with maybe a small diamond in it? Or get her a nice white gold bracelet or some nice earrings.

    Does she have an iPod? You can order them on the apple website and they'll engrave the back for you (my boyfriend did this with mine, I thought it was very cute :))

    Molton Brown do lovely scented candles by the way.

    Like someone else said, concert tickets? Maybe surprise her with tickets to her fav band?

    Bring her shopping, bring her out for a really nice dinner or something?

    Oh and about the not liking to carry a handbag thing => she clearly hasn't found the right one yet but she will! :)

    Yeah that'd be nice to get her a watch and the date engraved! I got one for my 21st...which still has to be engraved!!

    Little small presents mean more o me than just getting me 1 big present, I find them a lot more thoughtful. Anyone can buy me and ipod but it'd only be my boyfriend that would know me well enough to get me these small special things.That's not saying I wouldn't like a trip to New York for my birthday :p:pac:

    I'd say go for the watch. She has to carry a bag anyway, what difference to headache tablets make to the weight of it anyway! I just think lockets can be really gaudy looking and I think you have to really want one if you're gonna have one!

    She's 18, it's for her 18th birthday which is why he was talking about engraving the watch etc
