Hey people. Im trying to way up the pros and cons of obtaining an FAA ME/IR and converting or doing the JAA ME/IR straight out. Id like to hear from anyone whos followed either of these paths. Thanks.

Save yourself lots of time and money, just do a JAA ME/IR straight. Any of the lads I know who went FAA ME/IR first then converted said they regret doing it.

And besides, why do it where there are blue skies and calm winds ?

I'd recommend the opposite. If I was doing it all again I'd go to Florida and get all my stuff over there and then convert. Work as a FI for a year. It will cost you the same amount of money but you will have so much more experience etc that you will have a great advantage over most.

Most of the guys I have trained with also agree with this route.

So it's fifty fifty so far. Why not compromise and do the JAA in the states?
