Ireland's James Moore is fighting Gabriel Rosado tonight in New York. Its being shown on ESPN2. Anyone remember the thread like this for Lee vs. Vera? It will presumably be streamed. Anyone have a link? I couldnt get sopcast to work last time, so any help would be much appreciated.

The difference was that although Lee was a heavy favourite Vera did cause some threat . You can say that the threat was only in retrospect but I was pretty nervous before the fight started and I'm never like that when I'm sure of a win .

Rosado will probably last the distance , but he won't win .
Fighting on ESPN will be pretty good exposure for Moore , he's already beaten one gatekeeper in Candelo so he's pusing on up that ladder towards title level .
After tonight I expect them to start putting him in for titles(NABF , NABA , NABO , USBA or an intercontinental strap) .

He's 30 years of age already so they're not going to take forever with him .
Moore isn't World class , but within the next year he'll be given the chance to prove me wrong .

Well I was wrong(and emphatically so) , and at 30 years of age Moore now has a big problem .

I always felt he was a bit slow(of both hand and foot) and because of this he wouldn't make it once he stepped up to fringe World/European level but to see him fail at a level(possibly two) below that was surprising .

He's quite popular so I'm sure he can still make money fighting over there , he'd probably be best off fighting at home once or twice too as there is okay money to be made from Irish title fights .

However it is a real shame he didn't get through this fight as he would have found himself watched with some of the upcoming names in the division had he done so and got some fights that would of definitely brought in some good money .

edit: although to be fair to Moore this is what fightbeat had to say:
What shocked observers more than Moore losing was the scoring. ESPN commentator Teddy Atlas had Moore winning the fight, as did many fans in attendance. The three judges scored it unanimously for Rosado by scores of 77-74, 76-74 and 78-73. The third score, by Carlos Ortiz (not the former champion) raised a lot of eyebrows because it indicated that he only gave Moore two rounds of a fight many neutral observers thought he won.

If through I should probably give him a little slack for the loss , although he was floored in the 5th which isn't a good sign .

We've got 5 lads in the Olympics , so the endless supply of failures will continue for some time longer .

Are any of them seen as potential medal prospects at the Olympics?

no , well at least not without a very favourable draw and even then it's a little unlikely .

But despite that the 5 of them are quality boxers and I think Darren Sutherland will make a very good Middleweight in the pros .

Stylewise I'd rate Nevin as the best chance!

I give Egan the best chance due to his style and experience.

Now we just need someone to tip Joyce and Barnes and they are all tipped. Sayng that Barnes only lost to Zou who is by far the best boxer in that division - so if he misses him he has a chance
