    Ask the doctor who prescribed the pill.

    With mine it was straight away once i started it on the 1st day of my period & took it correctly.

    But you shouldnt take this as correct, it probably depends on the type of pill.

    It should say in the booklet you get with it. Mine is microlite and if started on the right day, (i.e the last day of your period as far as i remember) its effective immediately. If not, allow up to seven days.

    Read the leaflet and if still unsure phone your local family planning clinic or GP

    Depends on the type of pill, some from the 1st day of your period are safe straight away, some 7 days after you first take them, as was said before, it should be on the leaflet that comes in the box. Beware of antibiotics!

    for me on dianette 5 days . ring your doc tho to make sure each type is different
