Trying to remember a book

Got reminded of a book I read as a kid there today, just remembered another one that I can only remember a partial plot of, and not the title or anything else... someone else here might though?

There was a kid, in England, and his estranged father brought him back to Ireland and I think they were staying in some house out the N7 from Dublin. And that, literally, is all I can remember of the plot :

Its probably still in my attic still, mind...

Dunno , but I'd say you'd have more luck on the Literature board than here with that one.

Did he have a sister ? Was there a movie made about it ? The only one I can think of is 'Flight of the Doves'. Jack Wild played the kid in the movie.

Was it 'Joe in the Middle' by Tony Hickey?
