    http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Terminator-4-Plot-Rumor-May-Destroy-Series-Forever-9036.html

OK, y'all, I know it's time to get pumped for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. And I know you want to get your hands on every piece of information that comes out and prepare to see Batman play John Connor. And I'm with you-- even though I'm no die-hard fan of the series, the concept and cast alone are enough to get me in the seats next summer. But I have to say, after reading this possible spoiler over at Ain't It Cool, I'm kind of sad I bothered. Because, while it's just a rumor, it's a rumor that could mean some strange, strange things for this intended reboot of the series. SPOILER WARNING. If you read the rest of this article, you may or may not have the entire movie ruined for you.

OK, so here's the deal. The main character of the film is apparently a guy named Marcus, who is a kind of cyborg-human hybrid. He died in 2003, but had Terminator made out of his body after the fact. Basically he's got human skin on the outside, Terminator shell on the inside, and a beating heart in the middle. Marcus joins John Connor in the resistance fight against SkyNet, and then... well, let's let AICN source Dr. Silberman explain. "At the end of the movie John Connor is fighting a T800 model 101 and loses. He dies and the top resistance people come up with a plan to help the resistance keep fighting on. The resistance feels that it's important to keep the image or idea that John Connor is still alive so the resistance keeps going. So they rip off Marcus' skin and put John Connor's on the skeleton so now Marcus is John Connor."

That's right. John Connor, the hope for humanity, will become a Terminator, just like the ones he's been trained to fight. On one hand-- and I may get slammed for this-- that's kind of cool. You know, like bizarro evil Spider-Man, or the entire movie Face/Off. On the other hand... bizarro evil Spider-Man destroyed Spider-Man 3, and seriously, can one character make it to a sequel without being fundamentally changed?

I have a feeling the real fans will get a lot more worked up about this than I have, but even I, a total dunce, can tell this is probably a bad plan. What on earth do you do with RoboConnor in the second two movies? Will Christian Bale stand for this? James Cameron, I never thought I'd say this, but you're our only hope!

I reckon that's interesting enough plot wise (if it is true) i'm more annoyed that McWank has got the gig, he's just so crap.... kind of like Uwe Boll...

Terminator 4 - From the writers of Catwoman and Primeval, John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris.

    ;)

I don't really care tbh. The series ended with T2 as far as I'm concerned. Anything post-Cameron was always going to suck. I can't believe Bale has himself attached to this crap.

...but then he do... ahem... nevermind. :p

What on Earth is wrong with McG. He tends to deliver what the target audience wants RE; Charlie's Angels and the OC

....But it didn't end with T2. We had T3 and the Sarah Connor Chronicles.....great franchise roll on T4, Bale is far and away the best actor of his generation, look what he did for Batman ffs.
Trust me, this is interweb rumour. This will not suck

    bad director.

    bad writers

    really bad premise

    Yeah its gonna suck.

On the t3 and sarah connor chronicles.

I think you've proven my point by naming the two of them in the one sentence :D seeing as
Sarah Connor Chronicles writes terminator 3 out of the timeline
and sets the series back to the direction it should be going. Not this future bollocks.

It'll still make money, though. Even a dead cat will bounce if you drop it from high enough.

I've all but given up hope of T4 being any good (Christian Bale or no Christian Bale!) but I quite like Sarah Connor Chronicles. I'm glad it got picked up for a second season.

i think the sarah connor chronicles has the right idea by going with a sort of time travel cold war rather then just moving everything to the future.

WTF?? The whole idea of the Terminator franchise is that is Man vs. Machine. its no flipping good if the leader of the humans turns into a *beep*ing machine, *beep* sake

I would rather have more Sarah Connor Chronicles please. With more Summer Glau. At least that was going somewhere & certainly didn't feel the need to PG13 itself.

How much longer can Hollywood sustain this trend of reboots/remakes/sequels out of nowhere?

While I love Christian Bale's work, I seriously hope that his involvement in T4 isn't the beginning of his career going off-rails. This film more than likely will suck arse. And the fact that it's being directed by some douche who calls himself McG bodes very badly for all concerned.

    This spoiler could be bunk.

Here, McG says "By the way, there are only three people who know the ending."

    About 13/14 more years

Hmm, I think this "plot" is tosh. Bale has signed up for the trilogy, with him not having the major role in the movie. The movie HAS to follow the TV show or else there's going to be a major confict and one of them is gonna be eaten alive by the fans (presumably the movie). Or, as Hollywood has a penchant for, ignore the material completely so there can't be any comparisons or links.

However, there is this thing about Marcus where nobody knows where he came from (past, future........eh, present). The whole thing of him being a Terminator with a heart (A heart that learns to love, perhaps? :pac:) is rubbish though, fake or not.

Remember those "spoilers" and early "screening" reviews of Cloverfield? Turned out to be rubbish.

I don't think it has to, as the TV series completely disregards the 3rd film. I'm eagerly awaiting a second series myself, more so than the 4th film.

Ditto. The movie series, in my eyes, has nowhere to go & is just flogging a dead horse. The TV show is at least trying new things.

I watched Terminator 2 on Blu Ray the other night. It's easy to forget just how brilliant that film is. It's one classic, iconic scene after another.

The only beacon of hope I have for Terminator 4 comes from the fact that Christian Bale has signed up. I don't think he's ever been in a turkey, so it bodes well. Apparently the character of John Connor has been beefed up now that Bale is on board.

As for the spoiler, I think it's potentially a good idea. It's not the "I am your father" moment that some people have dubbed it, but it sets up an interesting trilogy. Someone above said that the whole point of Terminator is that it's humans vs. machines - but looking especially at Terminator 2, there's another theme; what does being 'human' really mean? This setup could explore that question further.

Or, it could be really rubbish. Who knows?

When Arnie put the pink shades on in T3, I wanted to walk out of the cinema. It was only the second time that I've ever atempted to leave a film in my life (the first was "On Deadly Ground" but a least that knew it was a crap film). Since Christian Bale has signed up, my hope has been renewed.

That was untill I read what McG has said about the film. He talks of how the T-600 is a ruthless killing machine that will stop at nothing to terminate anything in it's path. And in the same breath states how he hasn't rules out making this a PG13 film!

Why can't they make a film that the fans deserve? What they might lose on the box office receipts (to be honest they probably wouldn't lose much considering that most 12/13 year olds would get into a film rated 15), they'll more that make up for on DVD sales.

Please God, please, let this be watchable at the very least!

In fairness though, what is Bale really going to bring to the movie? I mean he has the "intense glowering" look down to a tee, which I guess is what would be useful for the character of adult John Connor. I just think Bale will phone in his part with the requisite glowering & that'll be that. It's not like the pedigree of the behind-the-camera crew are something to get excited about & Bale is canny enough to know this. Particularly if he comes into this movie with a certain discrimination against the Terminator movies as being wall-to-wall explosions.

    He's ****e - that's what.

Charlie's Angels was not well directed at all. It might have been what the target audience wanted but there's so many horribly done sequences in it that's it hard to believe the guy ever learned even the basics of directing a scene.

As for the OC - well I think you'll find he never even directed one episode of that show.
