Hairdresser for male in Dublin C.C(not Barber!!!!)

I am looking for advice on a suitable hairdresser in Dublin. I usually go to a Barber and get a 3 blade around the sides and trim the top - which is the bog standard barber cut.
I have a wedding this Friday so would prefer if it was cut with just a sissors (the same style though). I always find when I get it done by a barber that it takes about a week to look good which I think is partly due to the use of the blade and thats why I don't want to go to a Barber.

I was thinking of going to Zoo off Grafton street but havent checked their prices yet. I am willing to pay up to €30.

    thanks

OP. I go to Bedford Stuy. It is run by a guy that used to work in the Merchant Barbers and he gives a great hair cut. If you dont want a razor cut just tell him. He will give you a scissor only cut if you want. I always go there and have never had a bad haircut. He even has a GHD if you want him to try any styling with your hair. Costs 19.50 but IMO it is worth it. It is situated just a few doors down from The Foggy Dew (facing the side of the Central Bank)

Thanks. i'll give that a try. I was quoted 40 euro at Zoo which is a bit cheeky.

You should try Zandiga on Abbey street but you should only go to Leona

I have precisely the same problem - I get a 3 on the sides, cut on top, and it takes a week to 'wear in' properly. As such, it's faintly ridiculous that I leave the barbers with a product that I don't even like for at least a week, in spite of it being 'professionally' styled.

I've posted before on the problems of barbers not listening or being receptive, as with many others, and yet again last time in the Grafton Barber - the supposed 'market leaders' - the typical Latvian type never even heard of a layer cut, as with Irish barbers before, had no intention of doing anything other than the standard back and sides, and even laughed when I suggested that a short layered choppy look could surely be achieved by the cut and not by clumsily pasting product through my hair.

Does anyone know of a barber that actually knows basic terminology, or that you don't feel like a complete tit in bringing in a picture?

The place beside Doyle's is pretty good. Can't remember the name of it.

Yes they always look very smart from the outside at least. Might try there thanks - if I can pluck enough enough courage to bring a photo with me :o

    teeheeheeheeheehee ¬

i get what you mean about needing a week to wear in your haircut though, i'm the same but i could never bring myself to utter the words "short layered choppy look"

lol - believe me they were not the words uttered. Rather couched in vaguely machospeak - though choppy did feature :)

Apparently a layer cut is a standard cut just acheived by deftly using a razor all over with varying degrees of length to achieve a mixed look, but still short. Product just holds it in position and gives additional texture.

Now can you imagine trying to translate that to your typical Bulgarian, or Dub for that matter.

I used to get my hair cut at a barber shop that had mostly female staff. Best of both worlds :-)

Staff are all male there now - can anyone recommend a good barber shop (a dry cut is fine), or hairdressers suitable for men, in the south city centre. If it has female staff, all the better!
