A British man has horrified nutritionists and healthy eaters worldwide by confessing he has eaten nothing but Mars bars for the past 17 years.

Keith Sorrell, a 37-year-old printer from Liverpool, professes to be in perfect health, despite consuming a dozen of the chocolate bars every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Mr Sorrell gets through 4,000 Mars bars every year and is proof that man can live on Mars, The Sun newspaper reports.

"People say it’s bad for me but I drink lots of orange juice and take vitamins. I haven’t changed my diet for 17 years and my health is fine,” Mr Sorrell told the British daily.

Mr Sorrell's unwavering devotion to the chocolate bars started while he was still at school, when he would eat one or two between meals.

“All my pocket money went on them and one day I realised I couldn’t get by without them."

Mr Sorrell said he is now completely addicted to Mars bars and usually polishes off 12 a day, sometimes even more on weekends.

“When it’s mealtimes for other people I normally eat two or three Mars, and I’ve always got a bar handy at work."

A top Australian nutritionist told ninemsn that while Mr Sorrell's diet is inadvisable, the human body can survive on extreme diets.

"Humans are very resilient. People survive in concentration camps eating next to nothing," Nutrition Society of Australia president Andrew Sinclair said.

"He probably wouldn't be suffering from vitamin deficiency if he is taking the vitamins, but he would be missing out on essential fatty acids and I would say his cardiovascular health would be suspect," Mr Sinclair said.

While there is a lot of energy in a Mars bar and some protein, Mr Sorrell would also be lacking in fibre which would affect his bowel functions, Mr Sinclair said.

"I would also question his fitness and whether he is overweight."

So if you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

(Lol who thought this thread was gonna be about space and shit?!?!)

Microwave popcorn, the really buttery kind washed down by glasses of diet coke, but not the mank they have over here, proper Irish diet coke (oh how I miss you!)

That diet got me through all my exams and made me brainier, I swear!

Is not all Coke the same no matter what country?
I mean what's different, the water source they use?

I really don't know why it's different. It just tastes like chemicals here. I almost cried when I first tasted it here. Diet Coke is my vice. Coke zero here tastes close to what diet coke tastes like at home but it's still not as nice.

    I'm sad now! :(

Well the Diet Coke we have here in Oz tastes just as awful as the stuff at home if that's any consolation. Regular Coke ftw, unless you're diabetic or get hyper easily.

i always hated diet coke on the odd occasions where i was stuck with it, it's really dry or something, very unpleasant to drink imo.

It just tastes horrible and doesn't have that "kick" regular Coca Cola has.

Whatever you do, dont open one of those bags before you put it into a microwave....lets just say you'll never eat it again if you see the goo inside. Regular pan popcorn for me anymore :)

One food? Irish Stew and Guinness....i would be a happy gawson if i had a serving of each every day :)

I'll take a look but I'd imagine the prices are astronomical. Earning NZ dollars makes everything expensive

/goes to dream of refreshing, cold, Irish diet coke mmmmm

I like them. You're the liar.

I also vote for bacon and cabbage....a few potatoes along with it too. With butter!

Cheese and onion hunky dorys (the big giant bags), and coke.

I could easily eat pepperoni pizza forever, tbh.

Tis fairly normal to have it as a lunch or dinner. Plus there's nothing quite like a bit of cold pizza leftover from the previous night, right? :)

Couldn't imagine eating mars bars only for the rest of my life ....blergh :/
