I'm thinking of joining a camera club, the talks/club events at the Dublin Camera Club look interesting. Anyone a member of any club? Do you find them interesting &/or of use?

Same here - was thinking about joining the Dublin Camera Club on Camden street - same one?(mainly cause it's handy for a post meeting drink in whelans :))

Not sure if there's any other clubs around that area!?

 Mainly for the after drinks?!?
Yeah the one and only on Camden Street!
They had a really cool exhibition recently of a photographer called "Tatiana G", I think her name was. :)
Join up avec moi so and we can be club drinking buddies.. no skipping the meetings to go straight to the pub though!!! ;)

Would never have contemplated skipping it for drinks!! :)

Might take a stroll around there this week. I was going to enrole on the beginner course but there's no updated course - missed the march one. Any idea if they are running a begginers course over the summer?

Some nice pics in that exhibition

i joined Celbridge Camera Club in Sept last year and it's great, super helpful people and guest speakers, competitions get you off your arse and involved, and the social aspect is good too. I'd recommend it 100%, i think you are nearly better joining on your own as it makes you integrate with people there a bit better, going in a pair the first time one of you bails out there's a danger that the other will stop going too. :o

Anyone in UCD can join PhotoSoc, this year co-audited by myself and Bui. Lots of stuff planned; photo talks, technique workshops, trips etc. I have to check the rules re: non-students joining.

Well worth doing. Dublin and Celbridge have a good healthy friendly rivalry going as they are both very strong clubs in terms of comeptitions and standards.

I actually joined last week (DCC), I'm not going tonight, but I'll be along next week, they seem to have quite a few interesting talks, but I find just seeing other peoples work realy useful and enjoyable...

How does it work - is it just an exhibition of work or a general meet and greet?!?

It'll be next week/week after when I join. A mate from work said he might join up too! :)
