found this thought i would share :D

They're owned by an ex serviceman from Moskovitch racing. He started collecting cars during his time on the team and continued to do so after he retired.

His collection got a little out of hand and he counldn't store the cars in Moscow anymore. So what did he do? Sold his inner-city flat and bought a place with a massive field in a tiny village (three houses) 300kms away. The best bit is, you can only get to his yard in dry weather - there's no road leading to it. He's got about 230 cars with around 70 used for spares.

    :)

Nice! I'd take the girl in the second picture than the car! :D I remember seeing something like this on another website, I'll have to try and find it again.

Amazing how the Russians just basically copied the Americans in terms of 50's car designs.

I'm amazed there's anything left of them let alone the apparent good condition of most of them!

I presume Russia gets as much rain and snow (if not more) than we do. Those cars left in similar circumstances over here would have dissolved years ago...

except for prototypes or a few one-offs zil convertibles, he has assembled the entire soviet car production in one field. all he needs is a large hangar to display them. I see a few rarities like Zim limousines and Gaz m-20 pobiedas.

It is sacrilege to have these cars out in the open rusting away. The Soviet state should confiscate all these cars and have them restored and displayed in a museum.

I still remember the days back in 1989/1990 when the walls between eastern and western Germany came down. I was travelling through the former GDR and was asked by a guy driving a Gaz Chaika whether i want to swap cars...

    I didn't:(

Well, in those days everybody in the former GDR wanted to get rid of their eastern cars, they all wanted to drive western cars...

An aunt of mine (now deceased) used to drive a Moskovich estate, like in the above pics. She was retired missionary teacher, and had taught in schools throughout Africa and the Middle East in the 50s & 60s. I don't know how she came across 'Boris' as she called him. She retired to Timoleague in Cork in the 70s, and i remember her asking me to accompany her in the car to keep an eye on things (her eyesight was failing quite badly actually ), so there i was, 8 or 9 years old, riding shotgun and letting her know what we were coming up to ..... sounds scary know thinking of it, but it was such an adventure with Helen in those days :)
