Heading here on Friday. Just wondering if anybody could recommend any bars/activities to do/visit?

I know Euro 2008 will be shown somewhere but is there a place that shows the GAA matches on Saturday/Sunday? Also, are Irish papers easily available?

We stayed in Zakynthos last summer, in a different resort called Tsilivi, but we headed into Laganas for a night. Laganas is an incredibly busy resort, lots of bars and clubs all the way down the main street, neon all over the place! I don't remember seeing anywhere you could catch a GAA game, as I got the feeling the place is predominantly marketed towards the British. We didn't meet any other Irish people over there. There is a bar in Laganas called Mad Murphys, we didn't go to it ourselves, but think it's an irish pub and might be showing some GAA games. The island of Zakynthos is absolutely beautiful so make sure you do some tours around, like the shipwreck which is wicked. Also make sure you do the jeep tour of the island, it was the highlight of our trip, a crazy Greek guy drove us around the island telling us brilliant stories and showing us the best sights. Highly recommended. Enjoy your trip!

Stayed in Laganas for a week in august 06 in Cactus aparthotel, loved it, Jianni the barman was great, huge cocktails for really cheap at happy hour!theres tonnes of clubs and there is an irish bar on the strip but i cant remember the name of it, they might show some GAA...

Our favourite bars/clubs were Cocktails&Dreams, Zeros (for the girls, extremely hot barmen who danced on the bar, they have a routine to the BSB) and Sabotage(has a rotating podium in the middle of the dancefloor).

A couple of my friends did a boat tour of the island and when i saw the photos i really regretted not doing it, its a beautiful place, Mamma Mia was filmed there and the scenery in the movie really shows it off

So jealous your going have a great trip, hope this helped!

When I went there in 06 it was full of english and many Irish people hadn't heard of it but this year and last year I've heard of loads of people I know going there. It has become very popular with the Irish recently so I'm sure there'll be plenty of Irish there. I wouldn't recommend walking to other towns at night, laganas has the best night life anyway so you won't want to!
Make sure you go to Mad Murphys for the craic and if you're into cheesy music you hav to visit cherry bay!
