I want/have to bring my little sister to Disneyland this summer. Unfortunately she just recently turned 8 and can't avail of the "children under 7 go free" offer and when I went in to enquire about a trip to a travel agents I was quoted a price of 800pp which is too expensive for me as I have to cover funds for my other sister who would be coming to help me look after our little sis. However I would like to know has anyone gone just to Paris and stayed there for a few days and visited the park from a nearby hotel and if so how does that fare out? Any advice would be much appreciated as I really haven't got a clue where to start with this.
    Thanks

Well start by booking flights, as far as I know Ryanair fly to Beauvais which gives access to Disneyworld. Then go to some hotel websites ( you'll find lots of links in the stickies on this board ). Email them and ask them how far they are from Disneyworld, is there public transport access, etc.

Then go to www.tripadvisor.com and check out what other ppl have said and reviewed about the hotels before booking.

Be warned tho' neither Disneyland nor Paris are cheap....

It's not Disney, but if you're looking for an alternative there is a place called Parc Asterix near Paris which I've heard good things about. It's an amusement park based on the Asterix comics, which is a cool enough idea to begin with. It seems to be modelled on the Disney experience, with rides and people in costume and accommodation available on site.

If you get your timing right you can get to Paris with Aer Lingus to CDG for the same price as Ryanair (sometimes less) putting you about 15 miles from Disney rather than the 1.5 hour bus ride from Beauvais (about an extra €120 one-way).

I've been to Disney about 4 times, taking the RER from the center of town, spending the day there and coming back in the evening. It's about 35 minutes on train out to the park and costs about €65 for an Adult and €54 for a child (under 11)

You'll need a hotel in Paris, close to a RER A stop (the name of the train that goes to Disney). I can find a hotel within walking distance if you give me your dates and budget. A 2-star hotel with double room will set you back about €100 per night but it won't be in the very heart of the city but still in a nice area and less than 5 minute walk to the train/metro.

Parc Asterix I have never been to but due to not having kids than anything else. I hear it's an excellent place for a family day out.

@ Ponster: The lack of any kids doesn't seem to have prevented you from going to Disney several times though? ;)
