yeah I had a google and read up a bit before, I have a choice of an internal video capture cardwith mp1 and mp2 capability
or an external with mp2 and mp4
    what would ye pick :D

all the compression stuff blows my mind :D
I have 5 hard disks with another 1 in the pipeline so disk space will not be an issue
and a 2.8 dual core for doin this
oh and an ANCIENT analog camcorder and loads of old videos to put onto the PC for my father!!!!

have u a friend with a DV camera such as the canon 750i or similar which will take the analogue in, convert it to digital and pass it on to the pc, saves the cost of the card.
just an idea, i did 300hrs this way
