    Hello everyone

Just to let you know that I have just been informed that in between the months of June and August 2008 BT will be implementing their new "up to 8 mb" service, also known as LLU2, on 8 new exchanges.

    Those are:

    Douglas
    Foxrock
    Greystones
    Whitehall
    Kilkenny
    Ballincollig
    Navan
    Belcamp

So although the service isnt available yet it will be, hopefully, before the end of August once the implementation process has finished.

    See you!

    Slowest rollout ever!

    No surprises there then.

And its ADSL2 not LLU2. The scheme that allows BT to install their new hardware (box) in Eircoms exchange (room) is called LLU (Local Loop Unbundling).

BT LLU2 uses only ADSL2+ DSLAMs, so is considered the same.

so if you are going to be pick is not ADSL2 but ADSL2+

Read it again, especially the small print.
You'll get 'up to' 8 meg where available, otherwise 'up to' 7.6 like everyone else.

Guilty as charged. Couldn't be sure if you knew the difference, or were repeating verbatim.

I got a letter in the post saying I'd be upgraded in June. I'm taking that time frame with a pinch of salt.

What BT exchange does Athlone fall under? When are they going to upgrade Athlone?

When I got a second contract with BT recently, they really stressed that I would have 8MB in June.

Does not seem like I will get any upgrade soon.:/

Why are they even going through with it, when Eircom will be giving 7.6mb..

Should be going all out with proper 24mb Adsl2?

with the way things are here, it'll be another 5 years before we even see that sort of speed I'd say..

I actually don't think so, If BT have gone to the effort of unbundling exchanges one can only assume that they intend to provide something that they can't with a bitstream line. Something to remember too, when BT first started providing 8mbit it was long before Eircom even announced their proposed upgrades.

    Apoligies for the bump,

Any word on when the Blanchardstown/Coolmine Exchange upgrades will be complete, or when they'll be moving the current 3mb customers up to the 8mb package?

this is copied from sections which have been completed.
