did you apply for a job or put your CV on Monster or IrishJobs.ie in the last few days?

Check out the data commissioners website, think you can complain about the company contacting you or using your contact details when you have specifically asked them not to.

Don't answer your phone for a week just take voicemails.

Have a voicemail saying "Please leave a message unless you are a recruitment agency in which case I am quite happy where I am"

most people would find this somebit humorous and the agents should get the message .

thats a bit strange that they are all of a sudden calling you in the last few days. the only reason you would get calls like that from different agencies over a few day period is if you had put your CV on a jobs website. when a candidate with a good CV does that then they usually get a huge influx of agencies calling them.

there is a chance that maybe one of the big banks has a Manager position that has opened up and they have given the job out to a load of agencies to recruit for it. you must be on a few of their books and you probably fit the description of what they are looking for, so therefore they are all trying to get you to go for the position.

the only other thing i can think of is someone put your details up on a jobs site without telling you. did you fire anyone lately that might be holding a grudge? or maybe the missus wants a holiday home in spain so she is pimping you out to agencies without telling you :)

I like the gender assumption. no women bank managers out there :p

OP, I like the idea of the voice mail message but I can really understand how frustrating it must be.

whoops, i never even thought of that. i just assumed. silly me.

by the way OP, you seem to have a permanent problem with recruitment agencies. every thread you have started since you joined has been to attack them. did something happen somehwere along the lines that they screwed you over?

I'm only teasing. I know from your other boards.ie posts your not a mad-person. I'm female and my title and name are a bit ambigious when it comes to gender so we often get things addressed to "Dr and Mrs X" meaning me and my male partner. Lots of people make assumptions.

They always seem to ring me with a witheld number, so as a rule I don't answer witheld numbers. I think also if you were on their books once as a rule they ring you every 6-12 months.

Though Id Expect more calls about great roles in the coming months as I'd say they're commissions will be way down

Are they asking if you're looking for work, or are they asking if you're looking for staff?

Ask what the salary is, snort at it, and hang up.

would love to hear if you got a reply from NRF

If it's the same agency, threaten legal action or tell them you'll make sure your bank blacklists them and any candidates they send for interview. They'll soon stop!

Tell them your company will never, ever hire a candidate from the agency.
And then write a letter to the management of the agency explaining it was the sales tactic of <insert consultants> name

With luck, they will be swiftly sacked from their jobs as banks are large organizations in Ireland and the threat of being shut out from a bank will terrify an the management of an agency

If you have no issue with someone getting fired then go for it

my g/f used to work in recruitment and they all have very strict commission based targets they have to meet with a lot of them having a set number of cold calls that they need to make on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to generate new business.

for a while there recruitment was a good business to be in, plenty of money floating around, plenty of jobs out there to fill and plenty of people looking for work so more and more recruitment agencies popping up all over the place.

unfortunately for them the ar$e has fallen out of the employment market recently, lots of places are tightening their belts which means that one of the first things to go is budgets for paying someone else to hire people for you.

this means that the market is now overpopulated with recruitment agencies and they all have to call more and more people to try and meet their targets.

Maybe the recruitment agencies saw this thread and thought the op could do with a change in jobs?

Unbelieveable, particularly liked the verbal abuse, but like she is a senior bank official and us recruiters our bottom feeders........

If you request for them to remove your data they will have to do that. If they are governed by the NRF then they have strict codes of conduct. If your details are in the public domain however (Monster / jobs.ie etc) then you should delete your CV from there as otherwise, agencies are entitled to contact you.
