Is Tru Gas the same as Flo Gas

I just bought an old house and we are moving in today. It has a gas cooker connected to a small canister/cylinder of gas outside the back door. There are two empty gas cylinders there. They are the same size as the flo gas you see outside petrol stations but these are "tru gas". When I went to swap them for full ones the connector on top was physically different.
I rang the number on the side of the cylinfers and got speaking to the area dealer. When he realised it was the small cylinders I had which he didn't deliver he told me to get them at a filling station and practically hung up on me. HE said it was a "push down connector".
He didn't fill me with confidence to be honest. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Are the tru gas and flo gas cylinders interchageable?

OP, I rang them for you...don't ask me why!

They have moved from Drogheda to Castlebellingham, you can buy tru-gas cylinders from them there or from Tiger Oil in the Boyne Business park (whereever that is) or from "Matty Smith" the coalman...apparently.

You can also buy a new regulator that can fit both tru-gas, and flo-gas cylinders...

Don't ask me why I rang, I really don't know...curiosity I suppose. I guess you are based around Louth/Cavan from what the woman on the phone was telling me. :pac:

Thanks for calling on my behalf r3nu4l. I had already called that number as I said but got no help. I'm based in Galway.
I guess what I want to know is do I already have the regulator you speak of or am I stuck with Tru Gas.
I did exhaust all the contact options before posting here. Was just looking for someone with similar experience.
    Thanks though!!

Ha ha, no worries, The woman on the phone was really helpful to me but I didn't want to go into too much detail as to my problem because I didn't want to tell her I was calling, based on a problem someone else from the internet had :pac:

Most garages supply gas with both types of connector, you just need to check before buying :)

I had a good look at my regulator and it looked liked it might be the dual/multi fit type so I got a flo gas cylinder.
It worked though only two rings on the hob work and the grill but not the oven. Still, I'm getting somewhere.

OK so does anyone know why my oven isn't working. ??

Only two rings on the hob work and the grill but not the oven.

Is this something to do with the fact it's not mains gas?

    Anyone ??
