Alright so i was watching White Noise last night, and although its a pretty awful film im still entruiged by the whole idea of EVP. Has anybody on here actually tried it - was thinking of giving it a go myself via this software
    http://www.stefanbion.de/evpmaker/index_e.htm.

Is it completely pointless? Does it work?

    Lemme Know...:pac:

PS sorry if there has already been a thread on this...

Lots of threads on it alright but you dont need software to try it out. Just a recorder and a quiet spot. Drop DANNYXXX a pm and he'll be able to give you some good advice ... if he doesnt pop in here first ;)

afaik from the recordings I have heard on the net, most people use a piece of software called, "adobe audition". Its editing software. they uploaded whatever they have recorded, imported to audition and then y a process of massive gain and sometimes slowing the segments down voices pop out. Obviously not all the time, there seems to be a trick to it.

    Interesting enough though.

    Thank you 6th,,,,
as to an evp maker ,,you might aswell have a toaster thats makes sushi
all these fancy names are just audio programmes you can get most of them free on the web ,,,its not the software that makes the evp its the device that picks it up,,,
some use digital and some use tape,,its really up to the iindividual,,,,but is all good.
just dont get bogged down in the software, aspects get into a mode were you can ask questions but make sure you pause after every question for about 10 secs,,,try not to do it to long about 5 mins ,,because reveiwing can take upto an hour for 1 min,,,
if you need anymore details you can pm me,
    good luck in your experiments

I've tried the software, the guy who advised on the technical side of things on the White Noise Movie uses it (check the special features on the DVD)

I never get anything much EVP-wise but I think this software has potential and needs a second look, it has a nice scheduling element where it keeps sessions named and up to date etc. And you don't have to use the white noise element if you don't want to, you can use it for scheduling reasons only. (bit messy carrying a PC/laptop around though)

For people who like the idea of using white noise to help generate EVP, this is a good bit of software as it can create white noise based on a formula that can be removed afterwords leaving only the differences between the recording + white noise and the white noise. Bearing in mind that many people do not like the idea of using white noise.

Its based on the idea that it is easier for a "spirit" to manipulate a sound then to generate it completely from scratch. These manipulated sound segments can be compared against your planned random noise pattern and the difference analyzed.

another thing it does is to generate a different kind of background noise, you can speak into it and it will chop up the speech into little bits and spit it back in a random fashion, once again based on the idea that chopped up words would be even easier to manipulate then random hissing.

This is where the EVP Creator bit got its name from , it allows you to create your own back ground noise, its a very confusing name due to how it was translated. It almost sounds as if the PC will create EVP, this has caused some arguments here before ;)

but essentially the PC creates the back ground noise and records the result, technically all you should get as a result is the same recording + ambient sound conditions, but some people claim to get EVP.

a lot of people don't like filters, some people mess around with them until they get a result that they want. I would 100% agree with Danny that a clear EVP without filtering is best.
I see no harm in messing around with these things, it's free all you need is a PC c/w mic and full duplex sound card, give it a go and make your own mind up and come back and tell us how you got on.

I must give it another go TBH, since I'm getting very little anyway. I was told recently that the reason I don't have paranormal experiences is that I operate off the left hand side of my brain, i.e the logical and scientific side of things. Therefore I am not in tune with creative and intuitive side of things like females and 6th. Look with your non focused eye i was told.

there you go, forget all this software, just think like a woman and you'll be fine.:)
