Is there a need to pre-book irish rail.

Going to killarney on friday 13th for a golf weekend, about 15 of us. Will we need to prebook or just turn up and buy ticket?

i think the seat reservation is only from mallow on, so not that important.

    Hi fugee,

It depends on where you are coming from. Only a few trains go direct from Dublin to Killarney, most require a change in Mallow. Where there is a change, you cant book a seat in the railcar but you can as far as Mallow. As far as I know, any bookings over 10 people can only be booked by fax or phonecall to Irish Rail.

But most importantly, the AIMS awards (amateur musical awards) are on in the gleneagle that weekend and that will have 1000+ people travelling down.

    Hope this helps.

    D

With a group of that size and on a Friday, I'd strongly urge you to pre book seats in order to get seats together, assuming you are traveling on the one train. Call (01) 7034070 and they should be able to sort you out and possibly reserve a block of seats for you.
