What happens when you have 30 million men who have no hope of finding a mate?

Statistics of China's 2000 census recently released in Beijing report that there is now an extraordinary imbalance in the birthrate -- 117 boys are being born for every 100 girls. In southern Hainan Province the gap widens to an astonishing 135 to 100 ratio. In China today about 97 percent of all unmarried persons aged between 28 and 49 are male.

China is probably the world leader in using cheap scans to enable parents to know the sex of their child in the womb and, despite breaking the law, to find a doctor who will abort a foetus for no more reason than it happens to be female. However, this practice is also widely carried out in many other Asian countries. India is not far behind

Since each of these males had in him the same feelings of ownership and obligation towards his home, it came about that when it was attached by beast or man each male reacted identically and so produced unity of action in defense.

In Middle Eastern countries there is a distinct pattern of men outnumbering women. Eight out of the top ten countries in which males outnumber females are located in the Middle East. The reason for this is said to be due to the massive influx of foreign males from South Asia who come to work in these Middle Eastern countries. The extreme case of this is found in the United Arab Emirates where men now outnumber women by a massive 2.14 to 1.

Will we see 35 million "love migrants" by 2020?
Should we have a policy in force by then that accepts migrants on a sex ratio?

China 2020, not Asia 2020, and they can either go to war and hope to somehow lose 30 million people before surrendering, get teh ghey, mass debollockings, all use hookers, or share several men between each woman. In any case pr0n is a wise investment in China I would say.

Isn't this happening (on a localised version) in Ireland? I've heard in the countryside the women have left and farmers are finding it increasingly difficult to find a wife...

Same in Poland (opposite) as Polish men come over here to work - I recently saw a BBC documentary on immigration and how they now have all female firefighters in some towns due to the lack of men.

In Chinese countrysides I see slogans painted on the walls extolling that girls are just as good as boys and to have girls is to be patriotic (of course, having male help on the farm is still more important to farmers...)

As an asian I don't find many Irish girls *that* attractive either (so you're safe from competiton Fuzzy!) Must be the psychological "attracted to the familiar" factor.

Oh and as for answering the problem - die single I suppose. 30 million means out of 100 people 2.3 will not find a female partner... that's not that scary (to me at least). The problem comes with some towns only have 5,000 males I suppose... emigration might be the way in that case.

No im afraid is worse than that, CURRENTLY in some places the ratio is 135 to every 100 women.
The United Arab emirates have 2 men for every woman due to economic migrants. Wonder will we see love migrants. If I were 8 years old I would be concerned by the competition

the natural birth sex ratio is 1.05 : 1.00 men to women. In Ireland its 1.07 : 1.00
so even though there may be more women in the population this is only because they live longer than men. So unless you fancy pensioners the odds are highly stacked in favour of the wimmins !!:eek:

The Chinese and Indian Governments are after royally screwing millions of lads over !!!!!!! LITERALLY!

If it's 135 to every 100 in some places that must mean it's 100 to 120 (to women) somewhere else in China then as the average right now is nowhere near that segregated.

But I definitely see problems in the future - although being a bachelor all your life isn't the worst thing that could happen (apart from not passing on your genes...)

They 'do' it as part of the one child policy that China has. In rural areas (Although here the rules are more relaxed then in the suburbs) they need men to work the fields. Women are no good, and are thus aborted.

Hence the disparity of numbers.

On a more serious note it will lead to social problems. Nothing calms a men down more than getting married and having a kid. If a man has no hope of a stable relationship you can be sure this will have negetaive consequences.

Also a large decline in population(more than would be expected with the single child policy). This is a great policy for consolidation of wealth but it has massive side effects.

Plus the single child policy has a habit of creating spoiled brats a little more frequently(not an attack a fact backed up by personal experience and some stories i don't believe myself and i was there:eek:).

The simple fact is China is coming out of communist system and the only template we have for this was Russia and even they after all this time have a long way to go.

Right now media focus is on China and its what sells papers. If China farts it will end up in a western paper. There is a hell of allot worse going on in African failed nations that no one cares about.

In 6 months time the word will have moved on to some other country and china will go back to very slowly moving to a more and more free society.

I wouldn't want a dramatic shift - would you? That would just mean bloodshed and war, acceptable for the American revolution and civil war but not acceptable nowadays if one wants to be a global leader.

Also people are talking about the one child policy like it's the be all and end all... you do know that it doesn't apply to most people in the countryside right? (Especially if your first child is female). Also city dwellers who are only childs can have two children. It's not just an arbitrary system (ethnic minorities don't have limitations either).

Compare that to India where population growth remains unchecked... it's going to overtake China in the population stakes very soon, and in a worse economic position because of it.

I don't think people want to follow the Russian system towards greater democracy, that system collapsed on itself through financial ruin (amongst other reasons) - it's not really comparing like with like anyway.

Battle Royale and BR2 was banned in China. The movie had a serious message behind it about the crasy level of competition between children to achieve and the pressures placed on them It common to have cut throat competitiveness in Chinese education. Though it was actually a japanese movie it had a very valid point.
