    Hi there,

I'm trying to "class-up" my wardrobe, mainly regarding office wear, and i'm looking for advice on anywhere I can find a nice suit (I'm a girl). I'd especially like to get my hands on a nice black suit with pinstripes.

Anybody seen any nice ones out there lately?

    Cheers!

    Hi Morrigan,

Recently picked up a navy pinstripe in Dunnes and a black pinstripe in New Look. Cheap and cheerful but yet still look classy enough for the office

+1 for Dunnes, Next also have nice office stuff fairly reasonable too..

The more expensive ones in Dunnes can look really well, but the cheaper ones look a bit shiny, and well, cheap. I got a suit recently in New Look, the trousers weren't a good fit, but the jacket looked like it was tailor made. Zara have nice suits from time to time, but I haven't seem amuthing there in ages. Next suits have a nice shape but the styles can be more suited to older women.

Marks and Spencer have a big office wear range. You can mix and match the jackets/trousers/skirts. They do petite and long/tall sizes.

One of the girls I live with gets hers in Vero Moda.

Cheers, people. I'll have a look in those places :)
I'm happy to spend a bit of extra cash to get suits that fit well. I'm actually planning on dumping a lot of the cheap (but pretty and overly, um, casual) stuff I have in wardrobe. I have too many clothes, but I can never seem to find anything good to wear for work. So if any y'all have more suggestions, even in the pricier range, I'd appreciate them.

Its really difficult to get good quality women's office wear. I have a fairly high budget available but can find v little suitable wear. From time to time I find something suitable in Max Mara, Paul Costelloe, Jaegar. But more and more their suits are more like something you'd wear to a wedding than every day work wear.
We really need something like Louis Copeland for women - good natural (wool or silk) fabrics and excellent fitting - anyone find anything on these lines I'd love to hear.

+1 for M&S. Good quality stuff. If you're going to stretch the budget, you could maybe try Brown Thomas and have a look at several brands in there. I love New Look, too, but haven't tried any of their work wear as such. They seem to have a wide selection. My dress code is casual, so I have a few basic v-necks I've bought there, and I find them to wash very well. They were 24 euro or thereabouts, I think.

I got my suit (although I don't wear it often) in Dunnes, and it's lasted me pretty well. It's grey pinstripe, and quite smart.

A lot of it depends on your body shape too though, I think. The likes of Next, M&S, Wallis etc would probably cater more to the slightly older market than say, Zara would. Although that's just my opinion, I could well be proved wrong.

I tried all the shops suggested here at the weekend and couldn't find a nice pinstripe suit for the life of me. Ended up getting a black one in M&S but it is, as mentioned, definitely for an older laydee... rather baggy trousers, although the jacket fits well...

I haven't tried Brown Thomas yet though. I have to say I'm a little intimidated about going in there... I have visions of €1,000 price tags and snooty sales people... :( I'm happy to spend €200 - €300 on a good quality suit that will last... but that would probably be my limit...

Massimo Dutti in Dundrum shopping centre have great work suits, they are more expensive than Dunnes/M&S, and will set you back EUR 250 - 300 but you will get a good 2-3 years out of their suits and that's wearing frequently. I started buying them when I lived abroad and have one for 5 years that still looks perfect.

They often have skirt/trousers and jacket all in same suit so with a bit of investment you actually get two suits - they have a lovely black pinstripe one at the moment

Ah Dundrum Shopping Centre... I'd forgotten about that bastion of south-side culture ^^ I'll check it out. Thanks!

I find Next to definitely be the best for High Street workwear. M&S can be a bit too old-lady unless you can find something in their Autograph Collection.

Next change their suit lines regularly and their summer sale should be coming up soon as well.
