Yes, I give up. I am thinking about some compact digital camera before I have all important things sorted to buy DSLR.
I would like to have wide lens (28mm), not slow, not expensive and with possibilities to control at least something about exposure.
Price limit is 200 Euro, but it is absolute maximum, cards including.
Experiences, recommendations as well as sources are more than welcomed.

E200 is the problem I'd suspect... There are new panasonics and samsungs with 24mm equivalents I think but I don't think they'll satisfy the price requirement (nor am I sure about manual/A/S/ modes.)

    EV correction is a must.
It doesn't have to be the best camera on the market. I just need something cheaper. So far I have to pay 15 Euro for each roll of film. So I don't take pictures at all. And I would like to. And camera in my phone is not enough...

as Thirdfox said, the budget is a little bit restrictive. by any chance you can hold off, save and stretch the budget? some panasonic lumix would fit in with your needs but need more budget, perhaps say 300? check out Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3, it's not the latest thou

Both are 35 mm. That's not wide enough.

WOW!!! I am reading dpreview about it and it looks good for the money.
I know what I'll be doing tomorrow at work - searching reviews and tests!

Thanks a lot, that should make me feel a little bit better now.

Agreed. My compact of choice is the Canon Ixus 60, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Noise and details are almost the only drawback now. We'll see tomorrow. Or next week. Yes, next week should be the best week for decisions. After stretched weekend! Ehaaa :D
