    Hi,

Has anybody here contacted an Air Tightness Specialist for their build. i.e. somebody to recommend a product to achieve the required airtightness, instruction on installation and then commission/test the system once it has been istalled.

Please give details if you have.

    Who?
    Costs?
    Masonry/Timberframe?
    Satisfied with service?

    Thanks.
    Mike.

Hi Mike - air tightness in a build can not be bought - it's down to detailing.
There is an assumed performance of 7 at Q50 when using the Accredited details asked for in the new Part L regulations that are coming into force in July -

U-values of arounf 0.22 in the wall 0.20 in the floor etc (as muted in the new part L) require a better detailing regime - Enhanced Details (Again UK)
using these assume an air permeability of 4 at @ Q50

Below 4 - and there probably isn't enough natural ventilation for the occupant - then MV is probably required.

<snip>they supplied me and advised on installation. They arrange a "blow door test". I was happy with their service and products - Solitex etc.The tapes are great!
