I have recently heard alot about this relatively new type of make up. i was basically wondering how it works..i.e. how it is applied, how long it last & why is it so much better for your skin than the regular foundation we have all been using for years :D. I am a fan of benefit.... and previously pout(why they closed is a question i ask myself!!)

    Thanks

You apply it with a special brush and put in on in layers until you have the coverage you want.
It lasts the whole day or night on me. I have oily skin so that was surprising.
It is made ofcrushed natural minerals including zinc oxide which encourages skin healing.
But the brands you get in the chemist are not actually as good for you as those available online.
They can still contain some things which can irratate your skin, talc which is not good to breath in and block pores.

It also feels lighter and fresher.

oh thanks moon baby! Just wondering how would they work if you put on some concealer to cover spots or other little blemishes? also is there any brand that you would recommend preferably one that I can get locally, just to try it out anyway!

I use a separate liquid concealer.
I use that on my eye, I only ever cover blemishes with foundation and this worked just as well.
I'm only just trying it out, I bought a cheap chemist brand to see if I like.

you can get free samples from www.everydayminerals.com, you just pay for postage. Its enough to find out if it works for you, and what colours suit you.

I use the bare escentauls stuff and they have a "powder" concealor which i find fantastic, covers up loads without affecting/drying out the skin. Have to order it off ebay though.

BT2 have started to sell the Mineral make up. I bought it a few weeks ago and have found it to be really good. I was a bit wary at the start because I have very sensitive skin but it hasn't irritated it at all, it feels very good to wear i.e. you actually don't feel like you're wearing make up.
The application of the powder is very different to the liquid foundation I was used to wear so it took a little bit of getting used to but have to say I'm very happy with it now. I've also purchased their mascara too and its great.

i bought some of the everyday minerals, didnt like it at all. It tends to clump on the skin & the colour was way too pale (its very hard to judge online). It gives good coverage but looks crap & heavy on imho.

I've been using the Maybelline pure minerals foundation for the past two months and I find it great for everyday wear. It's only around E14 or something and feels so light on my skin. Surprisingly good coverage and comes with a dinky little natural bristle brush. It's so quick to apply too, you just load the brush with a little powder and brush it on in circular motion. It's kinda foolproof compared to liquid foundation so it's great if you're in a hurry.

I really like this stuff, does that come across? :p

I use the everyday minerals make up, the colours can be hard to judge but I usually buy the kit for $48.00 and pick a few different foundations, you can mix them to suit your skin tone. My face tans in the summer so I find I need to change shades regularly anyway. I love it, it feels really light and natural and you can build up to the level of cover that you want, it's really easy to blend too. The only complaint that I have is that it can be a bit messy because it's loose powder. You can get concealer too which also comes in powder form, if you look on the everyday minerals site you'll see that they have lots of different types of concealer depending on whether you want to cover up blemishes, dark rings etc, you just need to apply it with a small brush. I find this good also but just applying an little extra foundation works well as a cover up too.

    Hey :)

I use Bare Escentuals. I bought it in New York last year but it's now available in Bt2 and a few select salons.

I absolutely love it and haven't used my old liquid foundation since. With the Bare Escentuals Starter pack, I got two colours, so I can decide on how dark I want to go, or mix them for a customised colour. You get all the brushes and a dvd to show you how to apply it too.

My skin doesn't feel clogged or heavy when wearing it, and takes just a few moments to apply.

Haven't tried the everyday minerals but I hear they're good too.

I've used 2 mineral foundations, Jane Iredale's and Inika's and I found them to be totally rubbish. It has no staying power, it comes off in a few hours. If you have bad skin you will also need several layers to cover it, and this makes it run out fast (which is bad considering it's bloody expensive). I also didn't find one that was pale enough to match my skin tone. I have gone back to using normal make up. I'll never use the mineral stuff again.

That was fairly expensive, if you like it try the everyday minerals stuff. They sell kits which are really good value, I get the one for $48 which lets you choose foundations, eyeshados, blushes and a bronzer or finishing powder.

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows how pale can you get mineral foundation? I am extremely pale! As in pigment I have non! I find it EXTREMELY hard to find foundation that doesn't make me look orange. I used to use clinic ivory but they changed it and made it darker :(.

I'm very pale too and have used the Mineral make up with great success. I bought the light set. The amount of coverage you get (and how orange you make yourself) generally depends on how much you put on. So remember less is more!
