PLay offer "free" delivery but give a terrible exchange rate so could be cheaper to order from thehut.com and play delivery but save on the exchange rate. Free isn't always free...............

I am finished using CD-WOW , the hassle i have had with orders from them in the past year or so have been a nightmare.
I take my custom elsewhere now.

Ditto from me on CD-Wow ... awful trouble with them ... accepting orders then saying they were awaiting stock when the release date came up ... weeks later I was still waiting ... i swear by "the hut" firstly and then secondly "play.com" now.

The comment on play.com and their infamous currency conversion is spot on ...

There are several of the UK sites that offer low cost delivery. Free's not much good if you're paying more for the actual film itself :)

As far as I know on Play.com you can select the Sterling price and that way its your bank or credit card company that looks after the conversion. I think...that's what I do.

Not anymore - if you select the sterling price they won't ship to Ireland. Apart from that I've never had a problem with them. CDWOW have gone to the dogs.

    Hi all,

I have experience with play, cdwow, blah and a few more, but have found dvd.co.uk to be the best value and quickest delivery. They charge £1 for delivery, but charge your credit card in sterling so you get actual exchange rate, and the price of dvds, games etc. are cheap too.

Bought a dvd including delivery for £6 last Wednesday, arrived friday, great value and super delivery

That's it bit much. I rarely by off Play themselves but some of the playtraders have great bargains.

I am referring to the items available on Play.com. I have made no reference to the Play traders. If you think Play.com are not thieving then fine.

Remember to leave the price in Sterling, which you can do (unlike Play.com), as they also have a terrible exchange rate.

Cdwow have gone to the dogs altogether, I won't be using them ever again. Play are still reasonable on some things, but you have to be careful. On one of their recent promos, the prices on some DVDs actually went up. I think it was 3 for €22, but some had been €5 before the "sale".

Whats the story with ipoints?? I've never bothered registering with them when I order from Sendit. Is it worthwhile doing - don't buy huge quantities online except for peoples birthdays & christmas...

I find cd wow the best...great prices and often give out vouchers....

amazon.co.uk and .com are good too but charge for delivery.

I wouldn't recommend buying form thehut.co.uk because I heard they are owned by asda.com and asda have free delivery to Ireland and TheHut charges you for delivery. Asda and TheHut have almost all the same prices on their goods.
Many are complaining about CDWow but I never had any probs with them. They are good for cheap region 1 DVDs and they do send you out money off vouchers often.
Sendit.com are good. They are based in Nothern Ireland and I only bought off them once but I didn't have any problems.
Play.com are also good. I did order a DVD from them and it never came but they sent out another one with no problems.

I registered just because it was there. Haven't used any of my points yet, but if you go to the ipoints website you can use them to buy from various websites. You need absolutely loads of points to buy anything worth while though.

In terms of CDwow, they used to be very good. Over the last two years though, they have become increasingly more variable. My last 5 orders all had issues. Very slow to post, delay after delay without any communication from the company. I for one have finished with them.

I disagree. Using the DVD price search engines, I find them highly competitive with free delivery (I'm aware of the "free" arguments). It usually takes a package a week to arrive, but I'm a patient man. I do agree however that the exchange rate is terrible, however there are cases when it is the best value for money option.
