Miss Ireland???

Has anyone ever been to the Miss Ireland Pageant? I know someone who's in it this year and was planning on going, but tickets are €175. Plus it's a black tie affair so I don't think the dress I was planning on wearing will be suitable, meaning I'm going to have to go buy a new one.

I was really looking forward to going but it's going to cost me a fortune, and I have two weddings in the same month too. Has anyone who has ever been before think it's worth it?

Oh ya il defo be going.
€175 is well worth the price of womens dignity, parading around like cattle at the mart.
I cant wait to spend an evening watching a room full of young women with fake hair, fake nails, fake tan, fake eyelashes, fake attitudes, bleached teeth, with double sided tape to keep their butts from falling out of their bikinis. Its so empowering to us women!

Seriously your money would be wiser spent giving to bodwhys or womens aid who have to sweep up all the damaging societal consequences of competitons like Miss Ireland.

Why would you want to go? Networking? Hoping to enter next year?

Don't get me wrong, I love beauty, fake tan, make up and all that, but I dunno if I'd like to watch a beauty pageant for e175.

There's a champagne reception, meal, performances from Shayne Ward and West End dancers and a coronation ball.

I've no intention of entering next year or any other year, I'd just like to see how my friend gets on. She isn't the typical beauty pageant entrant in that she's very natural looking (snow white skin - NO fake tan), down to earth and actually has something between her two ears. I'd expect her to do well, she should be a breath of fresh air after all the other bints, then again maybe that's what they want :pac:

Anyway I was talking to another friend last night and she can't afford it either, so I'm going to have to give ita miss

I know its not on the same level, but my sister is in the regional final of the Rose of Tralee and the ball is a lot less formal this year but the heats were formal. I was freaking out over what to wear but any nice dress will do, as long as its not one that will upstage the entrants!

Any links to the contestants? 1 of my mates said he used to go out with one of them so want to check to see if he was telling lies.

That was Miss Ireland Universe or something, Miss Ireland isn't on for another 2 weeks.
