Picture & Sound out of sync

I have Sky+ and have recently upgraded from a 28" CRT to a 42" LCD tv. And recently I have noticed the picture and sound going out of sync slightly. It is happening on recordings and live tv (running in actual time, not having been rewound). It never happened on the 28", has this happened to anyone else? Thanks.

Is the sound connected by optical or SCART? I know if using optical for sound and HDMI, component, SCART for video, the sound can be out of sync depending on the HDTV.

I've seen my Sky+ do this in the past, I believe there was/is some bug that causes it and a box reset should fix it.

However it could be that the sound is permanently out of sync on your TV, and you just notice it at times and not at others. It's caused because modern flat screen TVs have to do a fair amount of processing, digitizing, deinterlacing and resizing the picture. Normally the manufacturer has worked out how long this all takes and adds a corresponding delay to the sound circuitry. However sometimes this isn't enough, or maybe you're using an external sound system.

The Sky HD box has a setting for audio delay, the Sky+ box doesn't, maybe the TV has an audio delay option, alternatively any decent amp/surround sound system will have the ability to delay audio to fix the problem.

Cheers lads, I should have mentiond that I'm not using an external sound system, I'm just connecting it using scart cables. Again I should have mentioned, I have a scart cable from the Sky+ box to a dvd recorder, then another scart cable from the dvd recorder to the tv. Maybe having the direct scart cable might fix it, I'll also try to reset the box. Thanks
