    hey all

im going backpacking for a month in a week and wouldnt mind keeping up my fitness (and perhaps developing a lump or 2 on the arms or so as it ends with a week on the beach)

bearing in mind ill be living in hostels and cheap hotels with no equipment and limited space i was thinking of a routine combining skipping, press ups,sit ups and squats. ideally around 40 mins session.

    any thoughts or suggestions?
    cheers
    conor

here is a programme i did for a friend of mine.
he is a very fit guy and found this quite hard.
the program was designed as a circuit to be done on a rugby pitch.

however, if i could i would have put some pull-ups and bodyweight rows in there, in can do them on your travel do.

    hope it helps

Will you be near the beach? If so go lift some rocks, squat with them etc. There will probably be a place to do chins too- think outside the box, along the coast in killiney there are 5+ places to do decent chins, and a few to do dips.

You could get gymnastic rings and put them over a tree or other solid object. You can buy them at www.ringtraining.com or make them- check my signature link, some of the stuff in it is portable.

    And check www.simplefit.org

    thanks for the response

am in reasonable shape although my sole excercise since september has been cycling. ill mainly be in cities, villages and the odd trekking trip ( in china) and will be near a beach for the last week.

ill keep a look out for ledges for chin ups!

One thing is a must... if you're going old school with this by breaking coconuts with your nuts and lifting rocks and skipping, then you have to, just HAVE to get the rocky soundtrack, otherwise it's wrong.

Plus once you're up the stairs of some central library, museum or town hall, show respect to others, wave to the public!
    Rocky Steps uber alles!
