    Hi,

I have been referred to a neurologist by my GP. Haven't got the date yet but it will be many months as i don't have VHI.
My question is - can i see the consultant privately, paying the full cost myself and avoid the dreaded waiting list?

    Thanks

yes you can. Just ring the clinic and make an appointment. Tell them you'll pay on the day. They'll prefer it!

If it's anything like the neurologist I went to see, they'll insist on a cheque before you leave the door, VHI or not :) I was waiting about 2 months for my appointment, although I don't see how having VHI or not would make any difference in thet regard .. he was just busy! Don't forget that you'll also have to pay for any follow-up tests that might be required such as MRI, EMG or blood tests. These can mount up too.
