TV Show Of The Week #2: Prison Break

Interested to see in the awards nominations that people think that this show should have been cancelled, and that it has jumped the shark.....

I agree that Season 1 was fantastic, Season 2 dipped a bit (rescued only by William Fichtner), but I thought Season 3 at the very least brought the series back to its roots (i.e. Prison).

I think its fairly common knowledge that
    Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara Tancredi)
is coming back in Season 4, and for me thats major shark jumpage (is jumpage a word?). It just makes very little sense in the context of what happened in Season 3. Season 4 will either kick things up a notch with a great story and great new characters, or will crash and burn in a convoluted mess. I'll keep watching anyway, but I think they need to start working to a story conclusion and stop miking the franchise. Let Season 4 start with a bang, run with a very strong story, and finish the series on a high note.

    Thoughts?

I can't get enough of prison break. The spoiler above is far out there but I always had a nagging feeling they'd do it. For me the tension and characters outweigh any far fetched writing. I'd like to see season 4 reveal the remaining mystery regarding the company.

I thought seasons 2 and 3 were both great but it would be very very hard to live up to series 1 which is definitly my 2nd favourite series of a TV show ever (and had Firefly lived on would probably be my number 1). Every episode in that season was great and it linked together so well. None of that Lost crap

The problem i have with Prison Break is the way it seems sort of like a new programme each series, the tone changes so much. Also the first season was all about them breaking out, the second was them on the run and then it should have come to a logical conclusion... Instead they are dragging it out waaaaayyy too long...

    As for the spoiler
what i heard last year was that the problem with sarah was that the actress couldn't/wouldn't agree on a contract, but that it was likely she wasn't going to be in season 3 but in season 4... When she was "killed" it was (in my mind) a bit obvious that something was up the way we never saw her face properly...

I hope that season 4 brings us back to the heights of season 1, but i don't know.. I miss some of the characters from season 1/2 - The old guy, c-note, abruzzi, but at least we have one of the best villains in tvland - t-bag...

Prison break is a good show but i didnt like season 3 as much as 1 & 2, that being sad im glad its back because it could have a great season, i didnt know about that spoiler i wonder how they will handle that spoiler wise?

Also i noticed the prison break spin off pilot is going ahead

While it did go back to its roots in Season 3, was that such a good thing?

I liked Season 2; after waiting a season to see Michael & Co. bust out of Fox River it was interesting to see how they coped on the run. It made the show a bit different, and kept it fresh. Season 3 may be closer to Season 1 in terms of story, but not in quality. Gretchen is, in my opinion, a horrendous character and I've literally cringed at times when she has been on screen.

I waited until the end of the season to see if there was an indication as to the direction they would take the show next season. It looks very much like more of the same, so I don't think I'll be participating next time around. Especially after reading that spoiler, which I didn't know about. Now, Prison Break has hardly tried to lay claim to being realistic, but that is just downright silly.

I don't often moan about tv shows, especially ones I've follwed almost religiously since they started, but Season 3 disheartened me. The show should've been a mini-series.

    I had a feeling that
she would come back cos Lincon didn't really look in the box properly. It's good to hear that she is coming back.

I knew she'd be back it was way too obvious that it wasn't her head linc was sent - sad git that I am I paused that moment over and over and couldn't make out her face :D
It will be sink or swim for series 4 for sure. Still love it but series 1 was the best, totally gripping. Can't wait!!

What you actually see in that box is a blown up polaroid of Sara Wayne Callais that was used when she was first auditioning for the show.

Season 1 was like televisual crack. You couldn't get enough of it and were always desperate for another hit.

Seasons 2 and 3 never reached the brilliance of the first season but I still enjoyed them. Especially season 2 which had its moments when they were on the run. Season 3 was very up and down I found but still worth following.

Can't wait for them to kill Gretchen. Can't stand her.:D
