Investing in a watch

    Hi all,

I'm a bloke who isn't into flash or bling and I don't have any jewelery but I do have a soft spot for nice watches. I have 5 or 6 watches I like which I interchange but nothing 'special'. I'm off to the US in a while for a holiday and am thinking of treating myself to a decent watch. The budget will probably be a max of US$5,000 and I want something which is understated and will hold it's value well.

I like some of the plainer Rolex models and I also like some Panerai's. I don't like Tag's and I think most Cartier's look fussy. I'd love a Patek Philippe but I don't think I'll get anything for less than US$5,000.

    Anyone got any recommendations?

    Ben
