    Hello there,

I'm thinking of getting myself a nice camera, nothing big, just for going away on holidays and stuff. What do I have to look at when choosing a camera or can anybody recommend a good model in around E300

The Samsung s1050 is 10 megapixel, up to 1600 ISO speed, does video with sound, 5 times optical zoom (ignore digital zoom, it is pointless), takes SD cards, uses standard or rechargeable AA batteries, currently half-price at 150 euro in Argos. I bought a Samsung A5 some while back and was very pleased with it.

300 euro gives a lot of choice - I wouldn't recommend any Vivitar, Hitachi or Kodak (except the Kodak ZD710 7MP with 10x zoom) in this price range, but Nikon and OLympus get good reviews. http://www.dpreview.com/ has lots of info and rough prices.
