Is there any cheap or free doctors in dublin city center or south? I have a lump under the left side of my chin (swollen lymph node from what I can tell). Its been there for a long time at this stage but recently has gottin quite big. I have re-occuring throut pains (every few weeks) kinda getting worried at this stage.

Any reccommendations for a place to go? I'm a broke student only recently employed and won't get paid for another 4 weeks.

    Thanks.

It's very frustrating that the govt makes most people pay for primary healthcare. It really annoys me, and I can sympathise with your position.

Can you not borrow the 50 or 60 euro from a parent or sibling?

Otherwise, if you're worried about it, pick a quiet time (I guess early in the morning) and go to A+E. They'll charge you, but you'll get a bill rather than having to pay up front.

A+E charges amount to more than a doctor's visit. In my local hospital, it's e65 to visit A+E, while my GP costs e40.
I agree it's appauling your health is determined by how much you can afford in this country. But I lived in the UK where it's free to visit the GP, and there was waiting lists of up to 2 weeks for an appointment.
If I had a brother or sister in your predicament, we'd all club together to pay for his/her GP visit. Any chance of that with your family?

I'll have to go to one of the parents then, I was hoping to avoid it, not the easiest people to get mula out of and I can't tell them what its for. Anyway thanks for the info!

Isn't there a student health service attached to your uni/college? Most student health services provide reduced consultation costs and/or billing system. Even if you are out of uni a few weeks, your student id should be valid until graduation. Avoid A&E if you can, it is more expensive, you can't guarantee a waiting time and the staff there would probably appreciate it if you saw a GP before landing into an Emergency Dept....

Forty quid at the health centre in Ballymun but you may have to be living in the area.

What college are you in? AFAIK the DIT doctor is free to DIT students.

Or can you borrow the money from parents/use a credit card/get an overdraft?

All student Drs should still treat you during the summer months but they are on a reduced service so you may need an appointment.
Other option is the clinic on Dame St (can't remember exactly where it is but on letf hand side heading towards Christchurch). It's slightly cheaper than other Drs and open wkends if memory serves.
Otherwise head to A&E, wait it out and get them to bill you when you have been paid.
Hope you get it sorted :o

Thanks for the info... While I still can't go to my parents due to the choices I've made in my life I have recently secured a job and in the next 4 weeks I'll get my first pay cheque so I'll be able to go then.

Still freaked out but not enough that I can talk to my parents about everything regarding the problem.

    Thanks alot all!

This is not what A&E is for. The clue is in the name: "accident" and "emergency" department.

Agreed- but tell that to those who clog up waiting rooms with minor cuts/colds/norovirus.
OP obviously concerned for own health and looking for means to see health professional. A&E would provide those means in these exceptional circumstances. i am not advocating use of A&E for every ailment!:)
