What do you find to be the best cure for a hangover?

I normally find a good fry-up does the trick - what do you do when you over indulged the night before?

Lots of water, anything once it's food and loads more sleep after it.

Springing out of bed, doing 200 pressups followed a nice vigorous 5k run, followed by an icy dip in the sea.

Thinking about doing these things makes you appreciate there's worse things than a hangover.

A full irish breakfast, the bigger the better, or a spot of surfing.

The cure never works for me, it normally kills me altogether.

I have about 3 litres of water in me already, I'm at work so theres a limit to what I can do to help myself!

Very true, absolutely nothing clears the head of a hangover like ice cold sea water. Its just putting on the wet suit hungover that I hate.

A fry-up is the worst thing that you can take! Your liver is trying to process the alcohol and then it has to process all that grease on top of it!:eek::eek:

You need to drink lots of water and sleep it off. That's it really. I like to drink green tea because it flushes out your system and detoxes your liver.

P.S. if it's a wine hangover and you have a thumping headache and want to die, there's no cure for that. You'll feel like **** for days :(

    Heres my routine

Firstly I make myself get sick a couple of times.

    Then I down some coke

This should upset your stomach enough to get sick again and clear out everything

I then drink an insane amount of water and overdose on vitamins and minerals

I take some milk thistle and drink a pint of milk then just eat loads and loads of carbs

Following that I have a freezing cold shower

Usually after all of that I am fine (yes I get really bad hangovers)

i have a 5 step program for recovery that is used when i need to not be hungover especially during midweek sessions. it takes several hours to work but if your up for work at 7 you can be ship shape by lunchtime. what you need is (in order):
    • constant supply of water throughout the day
    • cup of tea/coffee
    • smoothie of your choosing
    • that new 7up water stuff (i sometimes mix this with the smoothie)
    • this should bring you to 12/1 o clock lunch whereupon you should buy something greasy as fook/lots of carbs. chipper or bacon double cheese burger in Burger King.
follow them five steps and youll survive. take it from a seasoned alco

This man knows what he's talking about, the water will aid your pain in time but the bong hit will sort out in seconds.

Hair o' the dog. ALWAYS works. Only 100% truly effective hangover cure.

Others that have some success include a cornetto (or any ice cream for that matter), Snapple Apple, Lucozade (obvious one), Pepsi... Stuff like that.

Interesting how the fry-up option divides people: Some SWEAR by it, for others it makes everything much much worse. I'm of the latter grouping.

    Lucozade.

    Cup of tea!! Works wonders!
Chinese later on always helps too :)

Water, pump it into you. And it helps if you can drink water before you pass out the night before too.

I think the left over curry from the night before is savage for a hangover. Heat it up. Prawn crackers. Half eaten chicken ball.

Can of red bull after you eat and I swear to god those chicken fillet rolls are a life saver.

If the hangover is so bad you can't get out of bed without throwing up, just keep drinking water, at least you'll have something to puke up.

    Hair o' the dog.
Is that before or after you've washed the dog?;)

Only cure that works for me is:

get up straight away when you wake up
Drink a **** load of water and eat a few slices of bread
Back to bed till about 5 o clock

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Lil' Smiler

Lucozade and Salt and Vinegar crisps

Or also... having to go on a Saturday morning at 8.30 to coach sports quickly makes the hangover go away!

I have a really long shower and use lots of lavender shower gel.
    Big Breakfast Roll
    Long Walk

    If Im Away:
All of the above and a swim in the sea - the swim really works!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,470 ✭✭✭DonJose

A pint of water and a couple aspirin before you hit the sack. Works every time for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭Ross_Mahon

Get up as late as possible, have a cold shower, drink lots of water and have loads of toast.

Soluble solpadine, there's absolutely no better hangover cure on earth. Make sure it's the soluble ones you get though; they work in 5/10 mins, the regular tablet ones take much longer and when you're dying like that the faster the better!

Why don't you just pour the drink straight down the jacks while you're still in the pub?

Sounds like a big waste of money.:pac:
